SD Card Woes, RCD 510
Having a bit of an issue when i try to fit an SD card to my RNS 510, whenever i put it in i get a message saying "Processing, please wait" (or something like that) that stays on screen for several minutes, is this normal?
The Card itself is a Class 10 32GB Integral Ultima PRO (if that makes any difference) and according to the manual this should be compatible
Is there any getting round this, or should i just stick to USB sticks, and if so what is the largest USB stick i can get away with?

Have you formatted the sd card to FAT32, if not format the card and try again.

Yep, it was formatted for FAT32Gaz r wrote:Have you formatted the sd card to FAT32, if not format the card and try again.
What i might try is to only put a few albums on there first see if its any quicker to load up, then gradually add more until i hit bursting point, but i'd have though it should be pretty instant in being able to read it, it reads my 16GB USB stick in the blink on an eye, but the SD takes a good few minutes
Re: SD Card Woes, RNS 510
I presume your using the usb stick in an MDI unit? In which case that's a different connection type to the SD card which is built into the RNS510 rather than an added interface. How old is the RNS510 because the earlier ones had a 2Gb sd card limit.

Re: SD Card Woes, RNS 510
I am using the SD card in the head unit itself, and the USB stick via the cable in the arm rest
The USB stick is instant, the SD card takes about 60 seconds to read it every time i turn it on
It doesn't help that the manual says in one paragraph that it does not support SD HC cards, then directly below that says it supports SD HC cards up to 32 GB

Try a 2Gb sd card and see what it does then.
Looking at the front of the RNS, look at the top right hand button and tell me if it has a "Star" on it.

There is a maximum file structure you can use for the sd card I can't remember exactly what it is its in the owners manual but basically if you put too many files in it just hangs like you mentioned, the usb method is unlimited

Just read the manual, looks like you are limited to 500 files on an SD card, how pathetic is that
Re: SD Card Woes, RNS 510
Just copy them to the hard drive...

You have an RNS510? You have either a 30Gb or 40Gb hard drive, half of which is available for music storage.

Re: SD Card Woes, RNS 510
Sorry, its an RCD-510, not RNS, my bad
Re: SD Card Woes, RCD 510
Ah, there's your problem then.
You need the correct head unit.

Re: SD Card Woes, RNS 510
You'll have a 30Gb hard drive with maps taking up about half of that. Leaves you with (simply speaking) half of 30Gb. There's many different possibilities of hard drive and partition size, it's simplest to just say half of the drive is available for music.C00PS wrote:My RNS510 has a 16gb hard drive.Viking wrote:You have an RNS510?
