Check Oil Level Warning won't clear

Post by House »

Hi all,

So the check oil level warning came on the other day. I normally check my oil regularly but it had been a while, and when I checked it was on the minimum mark. So I topped it up, now just below the maximum mark.

The warning won't clear. When I turn the ignition on, it flashed on the MFD about 3 or 4 times, then disappears. It then shows again about 20 minutes into a drive.

So, I thought maybe it could be a faulty sensor, but I have read that the warning normally doesn't clear until the bonnet is opened and closed. SO maybe a faulty bonnet switch?

I checked the car when the bonnet was open, engine on, and there is no alert on the dash to say the bonnet is open. Should there be? If there should be then I guess it has to be a faulty switch. I tried disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds to clear the error, but that didnt work.

Yes bonnet open sign must be visible on the lcd screen. Just like the door open signals.
Think you are correct with your statement of a faulty switch.

The switch is probably "gunked" up. Try giving it a clean and free it off. Also check the wiring to the switch.

Great thanks. Any ideas how to get access to it? I am assuming it is situated near the catch in the middle.

Hi guys,

Appreciate it has been some years since this thread was active,

But I am currently experiencing the same issue after having had the car at the garage to replace the AC Condenser,

Please can someone let me know where is the switch located?

Thanks in advance,
Rayhan

If the issue was definitely not there prior to the car going for the work to be done, take it back to the garage as the may not have reconnected something or inadvertently damaged a wire.
