It's one of those new Sciroccos

Post by wigit »

collected the scirocco today and love it, never had i had so many stares and so many 'its a new scirocco' quotes when out if i had a £1 i'd be up to a tenner, was nice coming back in tandem with the gti pirelli given our regs are consecutive (scirocco got more looks) and i am sure a few people thought we were having a bit of sport on the way back, did chuckle when someone walked down my street and said 'he's got another new car'

car is quick enough without the need to exceed running in speeds, love the handling (all be it tyres need to get a few miles under their belts), manual chnage is a peach, on the way home a chavved up corsa seemed to want to race, little boys will be little boys, dynaudio is superb and the clarity amazing, stereo is very complicated thing i am getting there, if you have dab you do not get the TIM function (where you record trafic news, a feature i loved on my audis), dab reception great but need to give it a chance to see how it deals with traffic news, love the ipod connectivity, seats are fabulous and very easy to find a nice driving position, car seems very mature compared to the pirelli (which is like a terrier but more understated and as a corsa now knows goes like stink) and more grown up so chuffed we have the best of vw worlds

always new there would be a few niggles, i wish they had used the golf gti armrest and cupholders (love the sliding top on the gti with the vw bottle opener), boot surprsingly large and like the little tailgate so so easy to open and shut, I have the boot liner and its very neat and has scirocco in big letters embossed, rear visibilty makes me smile and wing mirrors make up, the mirrors do not have the gti function when mirror moves down when you put it in reverse

was thinking of getting a scirocco badge to put on the metal strip by the glove box to give it a lift and then realised they are individual letters

rising blue looks darker in cloudy weather, it does stand out though across the carpark

chuffed :)

Glad that your enjoying the car - it's great isn't it!

If you have the folding mirrors which I see you do, you should be able to change the settings so that the mirrors automatically move down when you select reverse. See controls and equipment manual page 24. 'convenience menu' then select 'mirror down'.

The mirrors are the one thing I regret not getting - can you get them as a dealer fit?

andy - glad you are enjoying the motor - the looks you get are amazing (even in Cornwall :p )

So do the folding mirrors also add reverse tilting and puddle lights? Might be worth it for the extra £125.

BTW congrats Andy :)

Yes well worth the £125, and puddle lights come with the folding mirrors. Car shines out at night and looks really nice.

Dealer told me it couldn't be retro fitted when they were trying to sell me a demo that didn't have it.

Went in the options as described on page 24, but Mirror Down isn't an option, so might call a dealer tomorrow I doubt they will know with the Scirocco being so new but worth a try.

Either its a misprint or firmware needs to be upgraded on my motor, anyone else got it working?

its says in the manual about the reverse dip function on cars where applicable, its not on the mfd menu and was never advertised, our GTI Pirelli has the function (its advertised) as part of the luxury pack, when the heavens have stopped i will trawl through the gti mfd options, folding mirrors also retract at speed (breathe in) i'll see how fast they operate at (reduce drag, i joke), the folding option avoids idiot bumping in to them when walking by in car parks and when parked on the road, also in winter tend to ice up less, also mean we can get the dredded wheelie bin round the cars on the drive

pictures will follow when weather improves, i'll do some shots with the gti pirelli so you can compare stance, i quite fancy a set of the pirelli alloys for mine

nice touch with the electric seat adjustment is you get a button by the tilt leaver meaning you can slide the seat back to get in, useful for tight parking spots and if your other half is shorter and never moves the seat back

went to petrol station first thing to avoid attracting attention

attracted the attention from the boys in blue last night, was wondering at first if the they thought i was breaking into the gti pirelli, no they pulled up to look at the scirocco on the drive and drove off, hope it continues that way with our boys in blue
