Re: EPC & Engine management lights flashing.
No doubt it's misfiring...most likely a failing/failed coil pack.
Need to get it scanned, to confirm misfire. If misfire showing on 1 cylinder only then swap coil packs around to see if the misfire moves to another cylinder - this will confirm its a failed coil pack.
Also check spark plugs if they haven't been changed in some time but the fact it's failed after booting it is probably a coil pack rather than spark.

Re: EPC & Engine management lights flashing.
Hi. Having misfire issues on cylinder 1 on my 1.4 tsi 160bhp. Anybody been to a garage where they can rebuild this engine and fix the damage? Noticed there's alot of cowboys out there repairing g engines but not doing a good job. Would like my rococo in good hands. I'm from Birmingham. Thanks.

GREG7728 - Thanks for your private message but as I'm a new user I'm unable to reply to you so I thought I'd reply here. Yes had coils checked. Even had timing chain and tensioner changed for 1k from a w specialists and still not fixed. Been told they should have known that wouldn't solve the issue. Compression test after showed cylinder 1 very low on power so must be pistons or valves and needs a rebuild or new engine. Any recommendations on where to go. No cowboys please. As we all know these Roccos are precious and I want it in good hands with someone that knows what they're doing. If you could inform me of location and rough cost please. Many thanks.

Re: EPC & Engine management lights flashing.
I had mine done last month. It wasn't cheap but I've used the garage for 10 years with various cars. It's local to me in Essex. So a long way from Birmingham. They had to do a full rebuild, replaced all valves and pistons and all seals etc. Mine was cylinder 4, hairline crack in cylinder - what mileage do u have - is it worth u asking VW for good will and may work out cheaper getting it done via VW dealer if they're going to contribute? I didn't chance it as VW hourly rate is shocking. May be worth contacting VW via Twitter etc and getting in touch with their customer service as a well documented issue u may be able to get some good will if they're doing the work.
