Bike storage

Post by futureslay »

Hi guys,

Pretty set on picking up one of these over the Summer (I'm away at University at the moment!), but given that I'm a keen cyclist and that I need to get both a lot of luggage and a bike (maybe two) in here to travel to and from Uni, this is the main thing holding me back at the moment.

Now, I know that I'm asking a lot of this type of car to be able to do this, but it'll be replacing my current car, an ageing 1.4 206, and will be a daily driver and will need to carry me and my stuff up and down the country.

I'm trying to stay as far away from roof bars and hatch racks as I can, but roof racks aren't out of the question. But that's a discussion for another day.

Does anyone carry a bike in the boot of their Scirocco and would you care to share your experiences and a photo of the fit? Worried about the size of the hatch rather than the space inside.

So I'm a keen mountain biker but also love my rocco. I can put two 650b large enduro bikes in the car wi the seats down without much trouble.the mouth of the boot is a little smaller than a golf but poses no real obstacle, it's just a bit more awkward to get them in. I take both wheels off two.
I bought VW genuine roof bars and cycle carriers because I wanted to save the condition of the inside of the car. If the bikes are muddy it's all too easy to touch the roof lining or somethin with a tyre.
Hope that helps.

I got mine in the other day but I did have to take the front wheel off and have the seats down!

No pictures, but last year me and a friend went biking in and around Wales for 3 days.

In the back was 2 bikes (front wheels removed), riding kit, tent and all other clothing and bits of kit necessary for 3 days.
It was tight but goes to show what you can actually fit in a scirocco.

Oh and this included all the tools and tool box etc. i usually keep in the boot
