Santa's bringing me a iphone 6 plus for crimbo so I need a new MDI cable as I'm moving from a Iphone 4 and the old 30 pin dock connector. Does any one know the part number of the cable I need thanks. Or would a ebay 30 pin to lighting adapter work.
Has any one with this phone tried to fit it into the arm rest cuby hole. I'm guessing it will be far to big to fit and I'm going to have to put it on the passenger seat while its charging.
I'm hoping I will not loose any of the features which I currently get from my iPhone 4 including the Bluetooth connection for hands free and multimedia. I have a 62 plate 2.0 TDI Blu.
Thankyou

It literally just say fits without the connector in, would be a struggle to get it to fit. Take a trip to your local Apple Store and get a 30pin to lightning adaptor. Worked flawlessly for me!

Argos have the apple 30 pin to lighting converters for 14.99 so have got one of them to test as I need one for my speaker dock anyway. Thanks

I recommend you get the cable as opposed to the little block:
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I found the block was a bit uncomfortable and felt like it was going to snap - this gives you a bit more flexibility when using the phone/putting somewhere.

Re: MDI to Lighting cable for Iphone 6 plus
I tried the short stubby apple 30 pin to lighting converter and the dock controls and charging appears to work ok. Like has been said the iphone 6 plus is a tight fit and theres no way you can shut the lid when the connector is on. Its also not practical as its a to short a lead to even put the phone on the seat so looks like I will need the converter with the added extra cable as above. This is still not long enough if you wanted to mount the phone on the dash using a holder. I've noticed if you remove the ruber sock in the cubby whole the phone fits better and it looks like there is an extra bit of recess available if you are willing to cut a little bar of plastic off. Not certain if it would be possible to fix the mdi cable + apple dock connector securely enough in this hole though.
The bluetooth side of things appears to work with basic controls and display. Play next and prev track works and title of track playing. I seem to remember though that my old iphone 4 allowed me to browse the tracks list and select one directly similar to when connected by the dock connector or am I mistaken.

I bought the iPhone 30pin to lightning adapter for mine. works perfectly on a 2010 scirocco R.
I just leave the cable hanging out the arm rest and pop my iPhone, top down, into the cup holder.
arm rest closes, phone stays still, songs work.
job done!

noticed that my iPhone 6 was skipping the first few seconds of each track, and was also having issues playing gapless audio.
I applied the MDI 0150 KW22-2011 update to the device and everything now working perfectly.

Re: MDI to Lighting cable for Iphone 6 plus
Sorry to resurrect this thread but there are so many posts on this subject it is confusing. I have a 2010 model Scirocco with the connector in the armrest. I have an iphone 7plus with lightning socket. I tried the VW cable which connects to the port in the armrest and has the lightning adaptor at the other end. When it tried it with the installed RCD 510, it didn't work. The guy at VW said I'd probably need a software update for it to work with the later iphone, is that correct?
You cannot purchase the Apple Lightning Adapter to 30 Pin Cable anymore as previously recommended as it's been discontinued. How do I then connect my phone to the RCD 510 in order to play music or have the audio from the maps app played through the system.
My car does not have the bluetooth package under the drivers seat so this would be my only way to connect the phone at the moment. I guess I could use an aux cable but that would not give the option to change tracks via the RCD510, only via the phone.
Going slightly off topic, would I need that bluetooth package retrofitted or is there a different head unit with integrated bluetooth I could install? I know zero about any of this. I did think about having the RNS510 and bluetooth package retrofitted but that is mega expensive.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
