Exhaust Smoke

Hi all, just a quick message for some good feedback hopefully.

Bought a 2010 plate 1.4TSI 160 and I've noticed quite a bit of excessive SMOKE like CONDENSATION out the exhaust. I took the car back to the garage and they had it for 2 days in which they said they took it for a good run out and they said everything is fine and there's nothing to worry about and its just going to be condensation. they also said they put it through the code reader and no error codes came up.

so i'm just writing on here to see if anyone else with the same TSI engine experiences the same as what i'm currently having?? OR has had it and its been fixed? what was it? or would could it be? does this type of engine genuinely make a lot of like vapour/condensation/smoke??

took the car on a good 3 hour drive on big long roads like to sort of 'give it the blast out' and even when i got home it was still exactly the same so if it was condensation i would have thought it would have cleared up.

i know its cold outside and your going to see exhaust smoke but its very excessive for what it is and it was still very noticeable a couple of weeks back when the weather was 12+ degrees.

cars only done 39000 miles with a FULL VW service history and stamps. had it for just over a month and its ONLY been ran on Shell V-power Nitro+ since i've had it.

I don't seem to be loosing water or oil neither

so hopefully someone out there with good experience with the VW's can give me some good advice.....

Would need to see a video really, best bet is to take it to a different garage and ask them to run envisions test - soon show if there's something up!

What colour is the smoke? White is condensation, blue is oil and black is un burnt fuel.

To be honest it's probably just condensation due to the cold weather.

If it was putting out smoke due to burning oil or running rich the lambda probes would detect it and flag an engine management light.

Need to see a video..but as above its probably just the cold weather. If it does look more like steam than white smoke i wouldn't worry.

When accelerating its common to see plenty of condensation like smoke in your rear view mirror, when the weather is coldish - that's completely normal.
When i first switched to petrol vehicles from only ever owning diesel it did surprise me - but thats just the nature of petrol vehicles, a byproduct of combustion is water vapor and plenty of it comes out of the exhaust to the point you usually see water drips hanging off the end of it in the winter.

Guys if you read the post he says it was doing it at 12+ degrees which isn't promising i would take it to another garage
