Wadey's Scirocco GT TSI Diary.
Here's photos of the car when I picked it up. It was a nice example of a scirocco, but although in average condition for it's age it would soon see what true TLC felt like haha.
After owning the car for a few weeks the immoboliser gave up putting all plans on hold. £800 later and I could get in and drive it. This sounded perfect until I picked it up and was told it had a faulty manifold due to a P2015 fault (Manifold runners).
Due to this all my mods had to stay small, here's what I did while waiting for the spray work and manifold to get done.
LED bulbs throughout the interior.
HID kit fitted. This was fun as I had to have the the DRLs turned off then I brought a canbus pro HID kit and the wired adapters to get them up and running. I also was able to fit my private plate.
After that the exterior bulbs began to get started. The sidelights were easy and so was the chrome rear indicators. But then I had to do all the other yellow bulbs reverse fog and puddle lights here's the reverse bulbs. The fog bulbs were replaced with blue tinted bulbs.
As for the puddle lights. They are still sat in the garage unfitted, but not for long.
After that I decided that my brakes looked like they had seen better days, so I decided to give them a little TLC.
I started by ordering some gloss heat resistant paint. Here's links.
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 0907974425" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I ordered a 250ml tin of pure white and a 500ml of jet black (As I needed to do my dad's drums too).
A 250ml tin is enough to do all 4 calipers and personally I feel as though brushing it on give a better finish by miles.
Here's some photos of them before and after. I'm happy with them and it took 4 hours to do the rears which I don't think is bad for the finish. I'll do the front ASAP and update.
After sanding:
Finished:
Here's photos of the front. Same process but the initial sand had to be done with a dremmel and sanding wheel as they were a lot more corroded. Here's photos.
Before sanding: As you you can tell the rust is pitted making if hard to sand smooth.
Then after sanding:
Finished painting:
And here's a photo of the car now it's all done. Looks a million times better (might have zoom to wheels).
At the same time I thought id take the badges off the boot. It is currently in getting smoothed but here's the photo after that.
Next on my agenda was to start making a smooth T5 grilled bumper with other mods
As this was no small job the full guide is here.

Top job on the grill, I'm about to start a T5 mod (once I find a donor grill) and I'll be using your guide thread a lot!

Looks great so far.
Any chance you could post a link to which bulbs you used for the rear lights e.g. reverse and indicator.

Re: Wadey's Scirocco GT TSI Diary.
Thanks people. I'm into modifying massively, here is photos of my last two cars far from standard and the scirocco will be heading the same way. Didn't want to sell either of them, but a 12" pot hole killed the mini and a baby on the way forced a bigger car than the fiesta.
As for the bulbs I'll PM you links in a sec if I can I'll try put guides up for most of the big modifications I do currently smoothing the spare front bumper's recess today before I go pick my car up from spray shop I'll post pictures of that work too

Re: Wadey's Scirocco GT TSI Diary.
Got my car back today from the spray shop. Love the look but the boot has some slight orange peel on still I will see if I can DA this out myself but If not I'll take it back for them to fix.
While they had it they:
Smoothed the boot, sprayed the aerial white, sprayed a wing mirror cap which the lacquer had peeled and finally sprayed a alloy which was curbed.
Bit unsure on the aerial, it looks better than it did white, but might end up getting the whole roof done black.

I'll be honest the aerial looks odd black and white. And personally I like the vw badge on the boot so not a fan of that. But if you like it fair play.

It looks a little weird ATM but the whole car will be smooth and euro style eventually. I think the roof may end up black with a black aerial again though I love the boot, took a few minutes get use to but it's grown on me now will look awesome when it's all the way down on air ride (just need save up haha).

Hi,
The painted calipers look great. I'm thinking about doing similar to cover the rusty look.
Did you disconnect & remove each caliper or paint them in situ?
Thanks

Been a while since I've updated. I've been focusing on getting all the bulbs LED white and looking pretty. Here is a photo of how it stands ATM, new license plate units, new wing mirror units, new sidelights and new main beam bulbs next is to replace the door reflectors with white bulb units. Ow and a black front badge more to come offline

Your reverse light / license plate looks very bright, which are they ?
Also, I'm not a big fan of mudflaps

I absolutely hate the mud flaps, the car came with them on and they will be going very useful ATM.
May as well put all the bulbs up:
License plate units:

Reverse bulbs:

Sidelight bulbs:

Wing mirror puddle units: (absolute pain to change as you have strip the whole wing mirrors down).

Loads more bulbs done as well but don't know what all of them are or links.
