Drl Scirroco 2011

Post by Stevedunners »

Hey guys new to the forum and I can see this has been discussed to death but my head and tail lights are on constantly even in the off position and it's really frustrating me, changing to side lights puts the headlights off but my tail lights are still on, getting mixed answers from vw wether this is normal or not, can anyone tell me what fuse to remove to stop this? Or is it only via vag-com it can be deactivated?
I've tried doing what it says on the manual but with no luck.

Cheers in advance

Yes it's normal and you need VCDS to de-activate them.

On 'normal' relatively clear days the rear lights will not be on with DRLs. Only when the sensor identifies poor visibility will the rear lights come on and this will depend on the sensitivity of the sensor. You can tell if only DRLs are on by trying main beam (not headlight flash) and see if the blue light comes on or not. There seem to be a large number of people who do not seem to realise rears are not always on (all makes of cars) and drive in relatively poor conditions without rear lights. Current patchy foggy/misty conditions around me are a good example. Need VCDS as Cuprabob indicates to change them. Not sure if deactivating DRLs invalidates insurance so I just live with it?

I am guessing Steve's car does not have DRL's, as the settings he explained are for halogen only. That is how halogen-fitted cars without DRL operates by law.

Cheers guys, I had a local technician look at it and he reckons it is the DRLs I'm gonna take it to a Audi/vw specialist at the weekend to see what they say and to see if they can deactivate them. Seems ridiculous to not be able to turn off your front n rear lights at all :/
