Squeek on acceleration - low RPM

Post by AshleyHerbert »

Hi everyone,

Recently my Roc has developed an issue whereas the front end is squeeking on acceleration, does it at low RPM in most gears but it doesn't continue through the rev range. Browsed everywhere but can't find anything.
Removed my twintake to see if that was causing the rubbing noise and it still makes the noise when removed..

I've pinpointed the noise somewhere around the passenger side front, I'm thinking a pulley or something? Cars done 29,000.

Anyone ever experienced and can advise me on how I could pinpoint / diagnose the issue?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Nice one mate I'm at the end of my tether trying to fix it! Thought I was the only one with this!
If you can let me know that would be much appreciated :) It does sound like a water pump now you mention it, possible bearing failure I reckon.. weird thing is mine isn't due to be changed until 08/16... :( Premature wear I guess.

Yip, my ROC water pump failed at 31000Km. Common problems it seems. There was no noise involved though. Just leaking.

Had it changed and the noise has gone :) I thought I heard it very quite when I picked it up but I think it was just me! But driving it for a few days now and it's gone, don't know what the problem was but just hoping it don't come back! Will keep you posted

I paid about £350 fitted all genuine parts from a local garage that I've used for years, VW have a fixed price for £399 so not to bad. My DSG service is due soon so may go VW for that
