Audi RS5 to R
Due to a change in work circumstances, a more subtle car was required instead of my bright blue Audi RS5. The plan was to get a Golf but fell in love with the Scirocco R so the whole subtle thing didn't quite happen!
It's a 2012 DSG with dynaudio, the bigger Nav screen (no DAB though!) and leather in black pearl.
I'm getting cruise control fitted later this week and I'm fitting the LED lights aswell with the really useful guide from this forum.
I have to say I'm really really impressed with the car and the looks it gets when your around. Holds the road really nicely and the engine really picks up pace impressively. The R body bits really set the car apart and look superb.
Just wondering if anybody had any suggestions on exhausts- the least droney ones and more importantly, do I make the alloys matt black or anthracite?? Your help/pictures will be appreciated!
Can't get my photos up as it says 'board attachment quota has been reached'- help!

Re: Audi RS5 to R
Hi and welcome.
Rs5! Wow would love one of those. I bet it feels no where near as fast.
Exhaust I would go with power valve bcs. Sounds the nuts.
As for wheels I like anthracite.

Re: Audi RS5 to R
I went the opposite way and bought a blue 2015 RS5.
The scirocco will feel quick because it has the turbo punch and low down torque the the RS is missing, the RS is all about revs and gets it's power from a high revving engine. The RS is a great car but the scirocco is great fun too, just in a different way.
I had the Akrapovic exhaust on mine, a beautiful system and not so loud above standard. The BCS system is also very nice and would have been my second choice.

Re: Audi RS5 to R
Thanks for the welcome guys. Love those anthracite wheels. That'll have to be done but I'll probably wait until after winter has passed.
The V8 in the RS is so silky smooth the low down shove in the R is a refreshing change. Just lacks that noise that makes people 100m away turn round and look!
If your considering the RS, definitely do it. You won't regret it! The step up in petrol use will be a shock to the system though but all is forgotten with a flex of that right foot! Sepang blue is the best colour in all of the VAG range in my opinion so good choice James and congrats on the purchase! I'd definitely still have mine if I didn't have to change it!

Re: Audi RS5 to R
Which would I choose?
That's a difficult question and depends on your circumstances. 4 years ago I was in a position to buy my first ever 'brand new' car and my budget allowed me to pick the Scirocco. The Scirocco was fantastic, coming from a high powered FWD car back in the UK I felt at home in the car and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Four years on, my circumstances changed again and I found myself in a position where I could buy the RS5. I knew this would be the last of V8 engines Audi produced so ticked all the options and got a high spec car. It's a beast of a car but a real Jackal and Hyde at the same time. Leave it in Comfort and it's a lazy V8 that's quiet and comfortable with all the mod cons you need from a cruising coupe. Switch it into Dynamic and it's loud, abrupt, firm and pretty mental.
Your choice is really down to your budget, the RS is a gas guzzler with 20" wheels and 4WD so tyres are expensive, running costs are expensive, servicing is expensive. The positives far out weigh those but just bare them in mind when you hand over your cash in exchange for the keys.

I love the irony of someone picking up on poor spelling and committing exactly the same offence in the process... I don't know whether to laugh or cry at how illiterate people are these days!James321 wrote:Which is what I originally wrote, good old apple thinks it knows better.3t3p wrote:Jekyl and Hyde

Ah, cutting out an extra 'l' is saving electricity, you should praise the guy on being Eco friendly.
