Oil Usage

Post by mond2k »

I have 2012 Scirocco R and have noticed that its thirsty on oil usage. I went to Edinburgh and back and couple of hundred miles since and the litre of oil i topped it up with had nearly gone.

Its not coming out of the exhaust on tick over nor is it smokey on boost or overrun. Its done about 25k and is running 340bhp.

Has anybody else noticed that theirs is heavy on oil.

The EA113 engine has a a bit of a reputation as using a bit of oil.

1 litre of oil in 200 miles is definitely not right. Perhaps in 2000 miles.

it did about 1200 miles before checking the dip and it was towards to the bottom. I will top up and see how many miles it does till i top it up again.

To be honest with you i dont give it an easy life day to day but its only recently iv noticed the oil usage.

Its due a service and have read about people putting in 5-40 so may try that.

It might be due to the oil itself, for example my prebvious car used about 1liter of oil in 5k when Triple QX was used compared to Castrol edge that halved the consumption.
In regards to grade i've used both and have not noticed any difference.

Excuse me. 340bhp from a 2012 rocco R. My 2015/16 R only produces 280bhp. Have they reduced the output on the latest models or what?

Standard it made 290 lol He Rolling Roaded a S3 before mine that made 265 on the head and run mine about 3x to make sure reading was correct. He scratched his head as the files on the ECU were standard also

Did they? I thought the FL Scirocco R kept the old engine and the new Golf R got the higher output lump?
