Noise when pulling away in my rocco

Post by Leepash »

So recently iv'e been getting this noise coming from my car when i start it up.

When i start to pull up my clutch, from stationary, and start pressing down on the accelerator I get a noise coming from the front of the car when im literally just about to take my foot completely off the clutch. It sounds like two bits of metal rubbing against each other. After the car has been running for a while I dont seem to get this whenever I pull off. Is this something I need to get checked out ASAP? Does anyone have any idea of what it could be?

I had this problem, it seemed more obvious when cold. It is most likely the clutch release bearing (also known as central slave cylinder) I completely uprated my clutch in august due to power upgrades.

I got a new clutch release bearing from VW, it was about £83, this sounds abit pricey but it is of metal construction whereas the one that was on my car from new was only made from a majority of plastic parts. So you get a better quality new part which should save hassle in the future.

Hope this helps, although get other peoples advice/opinions aswell! :D

As above it sounds like the thrust bearing. Get it changed asap the longer you leave it the more likely it is to cause real damage. Depending on age of your clutch you may as well get that done at the same time.

Thanks for the info guys.

Just had stage 1 done, do you think I need to upgrade to a performance clutch or can I just get another standard one?

You'd be better off with an updated clutch. You don't particularly need to, but think about all that extra power your clutch has to cope with. If you can afford it easily enough than do it. Makes sense to get it done whilst you're/paying someone to poke about round there.
