Still on the rocco hunt as i;m in no hurry & heading home this weekend after 2 weeks holiday
I was chasing down 2 particular cars before i left but work got in the way & ran out of time
So the hols has enabled me to sit back & ponder a month of watching the market as well as the VAG scandal hitting
Now i know i'm on a forum so i'm wary of upsetting owners but the used 40k/60k 2,0 TSi DSG market from 58/10 plates where i'm searching isn't shifting a whole lot ?
Same cars around today as there were 3/4 weeks ago
A couple of 60k £10k diesel DSGs have dropped £1k towards £9k but i don't really want a diesel
So are they struggling to sell ? If so then has to be price so what should a 60k Tsi DSG with heated leather & nav sell for ?
I was offered a 61k silver , black heated leather , just serviced but no nav Tsi DSg for £8K but just couldn't get the 200 miles to view & being honest silver & rising blue are my last 2 paint choices
Thoughts welcome

Re: Views on current used rocco market
I just posted in another thread, in my opinion if there's any affect on the used market whatsoever it will be right now whilst news is fresh and there's an element of uncertainty.
I'm sure demand will have dropped slightly and some folks will be desperate to push a sale through to free up funds for whatever they want to do, so if you're ever going to get a bargain from this I'd be inclined to get in there as soon as possible.

Thanks CD , from what i can see of the cars ive been watching the TSis are not being dropped in ask price but neither are they selling ? The Tdis i mentioned have defo been lowered where you would have expected it the other way around ?
As mentioned in another post many UK car buyers are dummies , they will see the headlines & news slots on VW cars , fines, sackings & wander across the road & put their dosh down the drain on Kia offering 7yr warranty

Re: Views on current used rocco market
Its just a case of watching the market daily and keep an idea on whats happening and whats out there. Many sellers don't even advertise the full options that the cars have on them so watch that too. My first 09 Tsi had sat nav and winter pack and the seller (EMG Cambridge) didn't know and my current one 13 Tsi GTS has xenons, electric seats and tyre pressure monitor which were not mentioned in the advert. In fact it has pretty much every possible optional extra. If it had been advertised as such I dont think he would have been sitting on it for two months. I had been watching the market for over 3 months before I found the one I wanted and then haggled £2k off for a cash sale and travelled 2hrs from me. With the limited market I urge you to travel as far as you need to in order to find the right one for you.

A 2.0 TSI car is quite a small market - not many people want 200+ BPH cars!
Plus they hold their value, so people who do want a 200BPH car but don;t want to pay a premium will buy an older Golf GTI or *shudder* a Leon FR.
Re: Views on current used rocco market
Current VW crisis aside, the Scirocco is getting a bit long in the tooth in terms of model life and therefore I would expect used values to soften a bit over the coming months.
When you drive a new model of any decent car, you see how far interiors and driver aid electronics have moved on since the Scirocco was launched in 2008; you are driving a pretty car with the mechanicals of a mk 5 or 6 Golf (I can't remember which). I say this as someone who is still very keen on the Scirocco.

Re: Views on current used rocco market
It is getting long in the tooth and a new Scirocco is due in early 2017 but I doubt it will be radically different to the current model - VW don't do radical model changes.
Also the latest Scirocco's do contain all the latest driver aids and central Sat Nav/phone/sterio system of the latest golf so I don't see it as dated.
Even though the dash is based on the MK5 Golf I think it still looks more interesting that the dash in the latest golf.

Re: Views on current used rocco market
More Mk6 Golf than Mk5, IMHO. In addition to what previous posters have said - all of which I agree with - most used cars on sale, whether Sciroccos or anything else, tend to be the lower spec versions, because more people could afford those versions when new. In the case of the Scirocco there's an extra reason; the 2.0 TDi 140s and especially the BlueMotion versions appeal to company car drivers because of the low CO2 ratings and lots of those are around with low-ish spec. Similar for the 1.4 122hp. So if you are after particular extras you may have to search a long time. The 2.0 petrols tend to be better equipped because more commonly the first owner was a private buyer who could choose the spec, but as others have said, these cars have 200hp which means there were fewer sold originally.
