New Rocco - 2010 Salsa Red 140 GT
After many years of sensible (Ish) estates - MK4 golfs inc a slammed sport, A4 S lines, - I moved on at the start of the year to a 2010 Golf GT which I purchased from a main VW dealer for a good price, fully loaded with extras (Lux pack, reversing camera, full 2 zone climate, heated seats, parking sensors). You know how they say if its too good to be true.. well after 6 months of hassle inc the dealer scratching the car all over when giving it a clean after some work, and then making it worse when they tried to machine polish out the scratches the last straw was finding out the drivers side rear was full of filler in the door and arch and the back end has been resprayed! So this was returned to the dealer for a full refund after getting VW HQ involved..
Last night I went and picked up my new toy after convincing my wife that we would cope with a rocco with a toddler as his seat would fit in the back and it would be OK getting him in and out the once or twice a week he goes in the car.
I now have a Salsa Red 2010 GT 140 TDi with a few nice extras and 55K on the clock. No photos yet as I haven't had chance plus I haven't got my Yetti tail pipe trims on yet or my plate holders (pressed plates on order soon), but here's the run down on the extras fitted, RCD510 DAB, Dynaudio sound system, and winter pack, - It also has auto wipers / headlights but I am not sure if that was standard fit or not.
The plans are:
Retro fit Bluetooth (Already got it from my Golf I returned)
Yetti trims,
a few tweaks with VCDS
number plate holders on (With pressed plates by the end of the month)
de-badging the rear of the Rocco name and 2.0 TDi this weekend.
Then it will possibly be lowered a little, new wheels or a change of wheel colour for the OE ones, and cruise.. plus anything else I can sneak passed the wife like black VW badges for the front and rear.
Only other plans for the next month or so is a full service, cab belt and brake fluid change.
Pics will be up by the weekend at the latest, along with anything else I find out about the car as the last owner was an older chap and he wasn't that sure of the spec really..

Re: New Rocco - 2010 Salsa Red 140 GT
Cheers for the welcome, wife is still talking to me this eve and it still using the Rocco tomorrow so hopefully I have got away with this one!
Been playing tonight.. yetti trims on, plate holders on, Ring Ultima dip bulbs fitted (need to order fogs and main asap), and been playing with VCDs. I now have front fogs only as DRLs (no rear lights), Corning lights turned on, plus rain closing activated, the big digital speedo and finally needle sweep (but odly it's only speedo and revs not temp and fuel as well).
Pics will be up by Sunday eve all being well, very impressed with its handling though to say it's a mk5 golf under the skin its soooo much better handing! It's loads better than my mk6 GT was too (that again being basically a mk5 under the skin).

A quick shot from when I left home this morning, (in the wife's Exeo Sport as she reminded me she was having the Rocco today for a test run)...

They were put on by the last owner to stop them getting kerb rash, £60 plus fitting!! I'm not sure on them but they can stay on for now as removal involves letting the tyres down and after winter I fancy having the wheels refurbed in white ready for it going a bit lower. (They are alloy gators if anyone's interested)

Re: New Rocco - 2010 Salsa Red 140 GT
Had a busy morning so far..
Oe 9w7 Bluetooth kit fitted which I took back out of my golf before it went back, that's all in and working now which is good. I was quicker to fit in the rocco as I just hid the Bluetooth behind the climate unit rather than under the seat like last time.
Then I fitted my new sidelight bulbs (say my new ring ultimata fog bulbs didn't arrive in time), and the pressed plates went on, and finally I cracked the coding so I now only have fogs only as DRLs and 2 rear fogs (skoda supurb saloon 1c is the long code needed for the vehicle type).
Tomorrow will be debadge and a good wash and wax.

Sunday was a bit of a slow day with just a really good wipe down inside and wash and wax after removing the badges from the back end, but I am now giving serious thought to lowering it a little as there's a smidge too much arch gap for my liking.

Re: New Rocco - 2010 Salsa Red 140 GT
had a good 5 hour session on the outside today! a wash, wax with red wax to help the colour pop, and then finally ultra gloss clear coat stuff from AutoGlym to seal in the colour, (Sadly I ran out of time to do the plastics! annoyed at that but they dont look too bad).
The Red really pops now! very pleased with my afternoons work (the neighbors think I'm mad, as 2 weeks ago I did the same to the wifes Exeo, thats Metalic white has never looked so good).

I hadn't washed the wheels at this point or done the plastics, but still I thought it worth some pics

That looks brilliant. I love it in red. Really disappointed I couldn't get my R-Line in red but its only available for the GT.

It's still nice and shiney, and today I retro fitted cruise, doddle on a Roccos (Tiggy I did as well was a pain! But that was down to park assist).
Next mod will be HR springs for Christmas I think...

They will be gone in the next 6 months ready for when the tyres are changed... as it will be wheel refurb at the same time, I am thinking OE wheels in white would look good.
