Dealer just rang to say car is available to pick up next Saturday!! Happy Days!

Ordered mine yesterday; the dealer thought it should be available in 12 weeks - mid August 2009 'ish. Does anyone know whether this is realistic given I've heard that ordering one with a panoramic sunroof can delay the lead time?

Mine was built with the sunroof, and I did not experience any delay because of this.

I laugh in the face of build dates (allocation grab from another dealer, in the spec and colour I wanted).

I suppose it's because i've ordered a basic GT with only 1 extra that is a popular request. The more extras you specify, the less likely it is that there will be one getting built or completed without an allocated definite buyer.

Just goes to show that some dealers can't sell their allocation, whilst others can't get enough. Not sure whether there is a geographical demand - Newcastle can't get enough, not sure which area is not able to sell their allocation themselves.

Ordered the car last week (wk 21) and just been informed by my VW dealer that the car is scheduled to be built in wk 28.

Major setback in sweden: Ordered early in may and just got the estimated build week - 37 (!). At the time I ordered it the dealer sounded as if I could trust in the extimated delivery date which he said would be in the end of july.. I was also disappointed he didn't manage a phone call to let me know about this as I recieved an e-mail in which he "hopes the build week actually will be earlier".

Considering your orders and your bulid weeks I am a bit confused. I wonder if it's sweden or specific options that delay it this bad..

What am I to do now??

My understanding is that VW production runs are scheduled on a country by country basis; if this is true then perhaps Sweden's slot has been pushed back to accomoodate larger volume builds generated by countries such as the UK. Don't forget that the VW plant shuts down for 3 weeks in August, which doesn't help.

Wow...

you guys are getting me worried, ordered mine today from a dealer and they have given me a delivery date of September 1st.

They informed me that they had an order placed for a demo car BUT could still change the options to the spec i wanted...

hope this is the truth ...but could wait if i had to a BIT longer.

I ordered mine today and they reckon it will be delivered some time between 1 and 15 October!!

As Carthage says; Sweden have very few productions slots at the moment due to bigger demands by other counties.. I will try to draw something good out of the situation thou by trying to get something extra added to the deal.. It's not reasonable to wait 2 months extra and I have the right to revoke the contract if I want. But I want my scirocco!
