HT Autos and Maxton Design both offer splitter's for the rocco, deffo looks like a DIY job to fit them.

I'd go with revo or Apr for a remap, no point in spending all that money then putting a poor quality map on your car.

I'm not sure whereabouts you are in scotland but there's a place called autotec performance in Greenock having a rolling road day on the 12th of September. They're offering 30% off all their software so a revo map from them will be 280. I'm thinking about booking mine for that day, I'm in 2 minds atm

Cars looking awesome btw[FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND WINKING EYE]

So I finally went for a remap at Ecotune in glasgow, couldnt fault them brilliant service and what a difference.

Went for APR's Stage 1 map, The car run standard at 177Bhp with the VWR intake and Milltek Cat-back.
after the map it ran 190Bhp as the timing wouldnt advance because it wasnt getting enough air, After another fan was added it ran 222Bhp and 242 ft-lbs :eyepop:. noticed a major diference pulling away and pulling up through the revs it just keeps going. :D

The guys recommended to upgrade to an intercooler so thats the next task on the list, Anybody got any recommendations or experience with them that can shed some light ?

Nice one you must be please with the results.

I see that the S3 intercooler is a popular upgrade. How about a larger downpipe too?

Nice roc!

I'm going the same route soon - APR stage 1, but i'm doing a load of prep work first.
I know these engines have been plagued by misfires and before I go remapping it I want to make sure I have all the new revised parts in released over the years as VW fixed the faults.
I have no misfires at present but want to make sure the remap doesn't push it into misfiring under load, so its:

New injectors, coil packs, NGK sparks (re-gapped) and HP fuel pump.

I've done the sparks and coil packs and will soon pull the manifold and fuel rail to do the injectors, whilst i'm there i'll do a full de-carbon on the intake valves, and fit the new HP fuel pump.

Then when all that's done, its remap time!, I'll look at adding the Golf R/S3 intercooler after if heatsoak becomes an issue.

Cheers Bud,

sadly i had the misfire issue last year but managed to get it repaired through warranty. i might be tempted to go through the ssame route as you and change injectors coil packs and spark plugs. did you carry the work out yourself or get your local garage to do it ?

honestly what a difference the remap makes wish it was done sooner. as for the intercooler cant belive how simple it looks to do so might have to bite the bullet and go for it. also had the offer of a peron intercooler which i am tempted to go for.

Actually it was probably a good thing you had the misfire's last year, well before the remap...the sooner that issue is sorted the better.

I've done/doing the work myself - I've been working on vag car's for a while now so have accumulated a lot of tools.

In terms of the injectors I bought some second hand ones off ebay.de from a 2012 car with low mileage, had them ultrasonically cleaned and leak/pattern tested and have fitted new seals to them. Buying them new costs a fortune, cheapest new I've found for genuine is £450 for the set. .
The 2nd hand route cost me £150 all in for the 4 injectors, clean & test, new seals. I also bagged the injector puller and seal insert/removal toolset for £40 some time ago (bargain as it normally costs 4 times that).
I wanted to change them to the newer versions as one of the reasons for the revisions was to alter the spray pattern to reduce the amount of spray hitting the top of the piston (causing scorching and excessive heating of the piston head).

If your looking to go down the same route, try do what I did and just keep watching ebay for the bargains!, has taken some months but got all I need now.
Also got a new supercharger clutch/water pump as I have the early revision one in the car that squeaks (slips on engagement) in warm weather when you give it some welly, spent months checking ebay for a genuine one to come up that was new, a week ago it did and at a great price.

The primary thing to do though is get the sparks sorted - either the NGK BRK7EIX which are one step colder, or the revised stock VW 03C905601B (you probably had those fitted when u went in for misfires).

Also I would regap (or check gap) on either set and set them to 0.7mm....as per the late and great RW1's recommendations.
As you may have read the primary cause of misfires on these engines was sparks fitted with to big a gap, VW revising them over the years and now have a 0.8mm gap from stock.
I personally have gone for the NGK's and re-gapped to 0.7mm

In terms of part numbers, the revised versions are:

Sparks: NGK BRK7EIX
Injectors: 03C906036M
Coil packs: 036905715G (these produce a stronger spark than the original 'F' versions, but are not a necessary upgrade, i'm just being over cautious)
HP Fuel pump: 03C127026P or the little bit older 03C127026M (these versions have a higher output than the original models, it is recommended to have this fuel pump if you are remapping, but again may not be necessary)

Again i'm just being a bit cautious before I remap - you may need none of this and have no long term problems. I've got no misfires at present - I have logged via VCDS as well to see the live misfire counter. If you have access to VCDS I would recommend doing this - log misfire counters whilst driving around with some WOT to ensure the map hasn't caused some soft misfires.

I've yet to fit my new injectors - have been waiting until they came back from cleaning & testing, and also have only just bought the fuel pump - will do all the work in one go.
Think I might do a diy thread with some pics...the 1.4 tsi 160 engine could do with some nice DIY's for this work!

I'm really looking forward to the remap - the torque curve on the APR website is incredible compared to stock, must feel so much more powerful!

Btw, I've actually got a Golf Mk6 and not a scirocco! - but nearly everything is the same underneath, your engine will be a CAVD, same as mine. Was very tempted to get a scirocco when I bought my golf a few years ago, but unfortunately practicality issues swung me over to the golf. I like this forum so just act like I got one :D

cheers for the information, i think when it was done they replaced the water pump and spark plugs but not sure about coil packs or fuel pump. are they quite easy to change out ? also to set the gap do you need to remove the cylinder head ?

honestly the difference is unreal. amazing what an updated ecu can do. haha imposter

on the performance side of things i think i might just wait and save for a faster car in a few months rather than pushing this to its limits.
