Turbo help!! Any advice would be great!

Post by Fuzzit7 »

Ok so il try explain this the best i can.

So recently i have my coil light come on and found out it was the throttle pedal. I bought a new unit and replaced it the other week and the light went off and hadnt come on since! Result!! But.....

I drove it the day i replaced the pedal and a few days after and it drove fine. But the the past 3 days something isnt right,

Basically i have the 140 Diesel 10plate scirocco, the turbo normally kicks in around 2-2 1/2 revs i think it was. Now the turbo is really lagging. I put my foot all the way down and you dont feel any power from the turbo untill it hits about 3 1/2 revs. This is very annoying as no warning lights are on. I no some might see this as a good sign that no warning lights are on but maybe if there was one come on it would give me a better idea what the problem is

Has anyone else had this problem?
Could it be something to do with the new pedal or is it something else?

Iv tried to look for other posts with this problem but alot of them are saying a light comes on so I thought id write a post and see if anyone could help out at all.

Thanks everyone :)

Although no lights are on, it may still have logged a fault so first thing to do is scan it again.

It would also be worth doing a throttle body alignment reset incase the new throttle pedal isn't 100% synced

Thanks. Hopefully my friend will bring his machine home tomorrow and we can plug it in and have a look.

How would you go about doing a throttle body alignment reset?

Ok so the light came on yesterday and it says : boost pressure regulation control range not reached P0299

Tried to ring vw and they want tell me anything with out paying and booking it in on a 3 week waiting list!

I really have no idea what it could be or if this is all from having my pedal changed.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys

Check the vac pot that controls the turbo make sure it holds vaccume and is recivng vaccume put a t piece in on a vaccume gauge and watch it as you Rev the engine.
Make sure the rod moves freely and doesn't stick.
They've got variable vain turbos that a just to make higher boost at lower RMP.

Have a look here, one of the reasons you may have to do a TBA is after changing pedal http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/throttlebody.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
