No Alarm Sound

Post by C00PS »

Need your help people!!!!

Because of the hot weather I've had my windows half down. I locked my car and walked away. When I came back to it the hazard lights were flashing but no car alarm sound.

Anyone got any ideas as to why?

I did check again by locking the car back up and setting off the sensors but still no sound.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not sure after how long, but after some time of noise and flashing it gives up on the noise but will still flash. No problem with it at all

Yes like Phil said.
After a while the alarm siren stops making any noise and the lights will continue to flash.

The alarm would of gone off due to the interior sensor detecting wind movement going through the car. Happend to me a few times when leaving windows down .

You can turn the sensor off by pressing the button on the behind the drivers seat on the lower rear panel. Press it then get out and lock the car.

But I unlocked my car then locked it up again with the windows down and then waited 30 seconds and tried to set the alarm off again and still no sound.

I set it off and no sound. Just hazard lights. Tried it 3 times now and same outcome.

Yeh, I have this very problem too!!!! Alarm is very much "on" as the sensor catches me inside but only sets off the hazards no sounds.
It's due a service very soon was gonna see if VW would take a look at it.

My service and MOT are due at the end of this month but i would like it sorted before that if possible. I've phoned VW twice and twice they said they would call me back. But have they? NO!!!!! :grumpy:

if its the same as some of the older models of VAG, the alarm has an internal battery that has a tendancy to fail and leak internally, i have seen a guide for removing, dismantling and replacing the battery with a more reliable one, but most people i saw opted to replace the unit

So a quick update. Plugged the car into VCDS and up popped Horn Siren fail Permanent. So it's either a blown fuse or the horn has gone. Will keep people updated after I have checked the fuses.

**UPDATE**

So it was in fact the horn siren that had stopped working. VW wanted to charge me £371.65 to replace it. Obviously i told them they should be wearing balaclavas and striped tops.

So i searched eBay and bought one for £50. VW said they would fit it for me for £80. So basically i have saved £241.65!!!

Very happy.

I'm guessing yours was out of warranty? I still have a few months left on mine. I've still to book mine in!
