1.4 122ps understated performance

Post by wakey1512 »

According to this forum it seems common knowledge that the bhp stats for the 1.4 122ps engine are understated and most will make 130bhp no problems.

But along with this is also an understated 0-60 figure of 9.4 seconds. I have timed mine and often managed between 7.8 and 8.2 seconds even to 70mph it's 8.5 seconds. Why are the stats so reserved? Do others manage these times with there 122ps engines?

Pretty sure the figures that you have managed to get apply for me as well

I timed mine and came out 7.9sec but for 1.4 TSi 160hp. Pretty much what the book says

These measurements should be done via VCDS or with an accurate GPS tool, as the speed showed in the dashboard is above the real speed.

1) the manufacturer times stated are done via the dashboard
2) these will still do 0-60 against a sat nav a full second quicker than the stated figures
