More R20 news

See these latest pics, final car should be launched on the 21st.

Note the top grill insert, I guess this is for an R20 badge.

Ride height seems high to me, and I don't like the rims. Otherwise could be a good package.

Looks really good! Might be tempted to see if I can fit that rear bumper and the dual-exit exhaust to my Scirocco when it's available :D

and looks like they have the s3/cupra/r32 brakes on aswel, defo no point in me traiding my car in for one of them, ive allready got it :D and better ;)

I reckon around £28K - would have gone lower but people wouldn't buy the higher priced GTI if they could get their hands on this for less.

28k. If they price it over 25k before options id be suprised given the competition. The 300bhp Focus RS can be had new for £25k, I expect the scirocco to FWD and about 270bhp. There is also a Golf version to come which I expect will be priced a little higher.

I like the exhaust - the car should have had that style exhaust from the start IMO. The wheels look a bit aftermarket so I'd be surprised if they were stardard fit.

sorry I cant justify the jump to the R20 if all its kicking out is 261 bhp and is FWD, its just not worth it! It'll be interesting to see what they have actually done to get it to run the extra power, but a remap, induction kit and milltek will give you that performance for under 2k on our current cars :)
Car is now Sold!!!!! BMW 7 Series for now as nice and big but holding out for something a little special as my toy :)

Do the same on the r20 and it'll be even faster!

It'll be better than tge 2.0 GT in many other areas aswell.

I appreciate that which is why I said it will be interesting to see what they haave done to the engine to achieve the jump in power, but if all they have done is remapped the car and fitted a K04 and larger intercooler is it really worth making the change?

VW dont typically just stick a turbo on an remap. There will be many subtle internal changes to the engines aswell.

It'll no doubt get a better interior spec, aswell as the changes in bumpers and other exterior parts, probably brakes etc aswell. Ther are tons of little sublte changes when you look deep into the part catalogues between lesser models and the top spec ones. Same as they have done will all the other hotter models. Some may argue they can build the same from a base model (like the ED30 MK5) but its never quite the same as having the best factory spec to begin with, IMO :)

I found the start list for the Nurnburgring 24 race;

http://adac.24h-rennen.de/uploads/media ... doc_01.pdf

Page 12 of 18 - the VW motorsport team;

116 4 Volkswagen Motorsport
SP 3T VW
Scirocco GT24
Heger, Altfrid D - Essen
van Dam, Carlo NL - Niederlande
Cheng, Cong Fu TJ - China
Mailleux, Franck F - Frankreich

Same names (minus Mr Mailleux) down the side of the car in the picture.

I don't speak German much, but on VW's site here it confirms the world premiere of the R at next weekend 24 hour race at the ring.
