Rocco R DRL Retrofit

Post by whetstone »

Dear all,

I am about to convert my current rocco 2.0 to rocco R bodykit. As all of us know that there's no way to enable our stock sidelights to function as DRL. Manufacturer of the custom made R bodykit has provided with a full set of front bumper which consist of grille as well as the DRL which functioned as indicator as well. However, this so called DRL is actually operating as our stock side lights and hence in order to turn on the "DRL" in which we have to manually switch on the side lights to disguise as the real DRL as rocco R.

In order to make the "DRL" to be turned on automatically, the only way is to retrofit the side lights wire to the "acc" fuse which means whenever the ignition is on and the "DRL" turned on simultaneously. It is not a new thing to connect the wire directly from DRL via acc fuse, however for the scirocco I can't find any despite searches around the web.

Notwithstanding the above, I am wondering whether this type of wire connection is advisable or otherwise. It it does, which will be the best entry point for the wire to run through from the engine compartment into the cabin compartment. There's guidance found for VW Golf that to run though the wire underneath the wiper grille as this will be the best way for RHD as the fuses are located at the driver side.

Would appreciate if there are members here to give advice, comments and etc.

Just use vagcom to turn the headlights off. There's countless threads on here about it, it's not just because you have the R bumper drl units, all you want is the sidelights to be on as drl instead of headlight.
