Grinding Noise when idling

Post by adam8enson »

Recently bought a 2010 Scirocco GT TDI 170. Its making whats sounds like a grinding noise, most obvious when idling, speeds up as the revs increase. Would anyone have any ideas as to what it is?

The video of the problem is below:

Any help appreciated.

Try the bonnet pin? I had a rattle when idling, when speed picked up no noise. Problem was the bonnet pin!

Good idea, my wife had the same problem.

If that's not it start from the basics and get someone to check your engine bay while you hold the revs at different rl as it could just be something that has become loose.

I had exactly the same thing, the engine sounded like a bag of bolts. Car went back under warranty turned out it was the bonnet catch.
