And yes I will be upgrading the turbo etc, just doing exterior, interior, engine. But I understand what you are saying.

However yes, will be doing vents, trims etc piano black, got them on order.

Also changing the gearstick, got 1 on order but not arrived yet :(
I'll let you off then! :)

How much did the piano black bits cost? I've just had all mine wrapped today, instead. Thought it would probably be cheaper.

Hehe thanks! Only had the car 3 weeks, not enough time in the day to sort everything lol.

Trying to locate vents at the mo :( someone has a set but wants £100 + VAT for them! Seems high to me.

The radio sorround cost me £30 with VAT, going to order door handles tues so il let you know prices, and hoping I can get the dash strips in black as I read online they cant be ordered? But not looked in to how true that is yet

Gazzagood wrote:So what a day of modding! Got more then I thought I would get done done.

So after picking up my rear bumper and skirts from the bodyshop this morning I fitted my missing DRL to the front bumper:

Then I went on to fit the bumper:

And the finished piece below! The lights are not bolted in as I still need to sort out getting the DRL's working :(

Image

Then it was on to getting the rear facelift lights working, MASSIVE thanks to Niqlai on this forum for help with the wiring, this would of taken me hours without his pictures:

All lights working as they should :)

Then it was on to fitting the rear end.

This went really well but I did not know the bumper brackets behind the bumper were different and I did not have them :( So cant actually fit the bumper properly until tue/wed when I can get the part. So that is why the corners are hanging, but you get the idea :)

If anyone wondered the shape difference between facelift and pre facelift see the below picture. Way off!

But back to the rear end fitting:

Absolutely LOVE the LED rear lights! Will get better pictures when its dark, so happy with them!!

For anyone wondering, every boot trime fitted from the pre facelift boot into the facelift:

And finally, I fitted my steering wheel:

Need to convert the rest of the interior to gloss black now so the trims dont look out of place!

Very long day, but very happy! Tomorrow I am doing my sideskirts with help from a mate. And then I am going to try work out the damn DRL wiring!!

Hope you like
Is the steering wheel a straight swap?

For anyone thinking about installing LED rear lights in a pre 2009 car... DONT! WHAT A NIGHTMARE.

So I noticed last night that my foglights were on the whole time, and things just didnt look right at night. So spent the last 3-4 hours working out the wiring and then completely re coding via vagcom... but the results... awesome! Everything is working EXCEPT the foglights. Need to play around with it some more to get them working. But if I cannot then the only option is a new BCM, problem is I have the older 4 plug BCM, so it would mean dash out, wiring change and new style BCM.

But atleast they are working except foglights!

Another long day, so after finally getting my rear lights coded up correctly (will picture when dark, cant wait! I got a mate over who works at a bodyshop to help me fit the skirts.

This is the only replica R bit going on my car, but tbh, I will be changing to genuine at some point. The fit is OK, but you can tell they are not OEM so I am a little annoyed... Just need someone to sell some R Line skirts.

there pretty shit mate, we used tiger seal so just letting it cure overnight will remove the tape and clamps tomorrow afternoon.

EDIT: just realised you said 3M window sealer, im not sure that is the best lol, but try tiger seal it is VERY strong!

Then it was on to the DRL's, what a ballache! But all sorted :)

Genuine R Bumper DRL's working as if they were factory fitted:

And I got the indicators working in the lights, I just need to change the bulbs to orange ones.

I'm interested too whats wrong with side skirts since i have my replicas from funfuntuning painted as i write this.

Also your rear bumber doesnt fit as its supposed? Pretty big gap on the picture. But nice mods. Now you need to lower it and buy some nice set of wheels!

I am guessing you just viewed the pictures haha, i said that i need new rear bumper mounting brackets, so its not bolted on the sides or clipped in as theres nothing there. But being a bank holiday i cannot get the parts until tue/wed :(

I have lowering springs but do really need new wheels/brakes! They will come next month :)

Regarding the skirts, they fit ok you just need to make sure you use good quality sealant so they stick. And the finish is pretty bad so they need allot of prep before painting. But if done right then they are fine once fitted :) you will be fine just take your time.

i would not recommend any form of tape, there is to much presser they will come away from the body. Get some good quality sealant, I used Tiger seal, bond it and let it set for 24 hours clamped/taped to the car. Then you should have no issues.

So today was just a chilled out day really, finished off wiring, soldered things together and bolted my headlights back in. Fitted some resisters to my parking lights as I no longer have them. And also got some orange bulbs for the indicators, I went for silver bulbs with an orange flash, so you dont get the orange look when looking at the headlights.

Indicators flashing orange with DRL's on:

Image

And then I got some bits ready for my mate to paint at work tomorrow:

Image

They are going gloss black, the rear diffuser needs redoing as it is scuffed. Almost ready for the exhaust!

So anyone looking to facelift the rear end, have fun haha give yourself a weekend. Front end was fairly easy... Sideskirts were annoying... Steering wheel bolts straight on but I have no horn or controls as I need a new module (on order).

All in alll... I am tired :fall:
