GT24

Post by Stu13R »

I know this has been talked about before but does anyone know where I could get a GT24 bodykit from? I already checked and can say VW Racing or the Motorsport dept cannot get them.

I would still consider this if it's expensive as I think it would be the perfect final touch to a 4wd conversion.

I do know someone who can make carbon fibre moulds if anyone happens to have an original GT24 in their garage they forgot about? :D

you can get carbon fiber anything from China.

Fenders: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Carbon-F ... 23045.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Splitter: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Volkswag ... 75560.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
front bumper and more: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a23 ... t=7#detail" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

if your not keen on china supplied items, take a look at your phone and see where it was made :-) yes the PRC.

I appreciate the post and do think there are a lot of quality products made in China and badged up.

Unfortunately everything I can find in CF is a direct replacement for the original parts and not wide body. I won't be trashing my new bodywork unless I can get a full on GT24 rep kit like the real one in the picture below:

You could try KMS in Sweden who (I believe) used these parts on the first version of their Swedish Touring Car Championship Scirocco.

http://www.kms-racing.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They run Sciroccos from 2009-2012 and had, to my knowledge, four cars in total. So I would think they might have lots of parts from that time. They have also made various other Scirocco race cars, from Rallycross (yes, 4wd super car) to Endurance, and they have been since 2010 the official VW Sweden racing team. Currently in the RX World Championship with Polos.

Here's a picture of the first version raced...later versions had different bodywork.

Have done some extensive body kits before this kit will be very involved to fit. Proper wide are kits have to be bonded onto the rear and the excess metal cut away. Basically there's no going back once you start.
Fitting and re spray would be a lot and a mates wide arch focus cost £6k for the kit and £5k for the fitting/spray. I would imagine if this kit is available and in carbon it would cost £10k ish.

I've emailed 24 companies including vw race teams, vw motorsport, VWR distributers and the 2 companies that previously planned kits. If they all say I reckon it's a lost cause and not meant to be.
