Remap and other stuff

Post by Jaffa14 »

ive never had a remap before and I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations or advice. I hve a dsg and I have heard that this needs remapping too! Any help? I wouldn't mind a few more modifications too but I don't want to make the sound too loud on motorway miles.

Revo. all the way. get down to your local Revo remapper and they will tell you everything you need to know. if youre based near birmingham i can reccommend Midland Vw in cannock.

Plenty of choice but the most popular are Revo and APR who have spent a lot of money developing quality maps. I have had both on previous cars with no issues. I've heard good things about GIAC also but have never tried myself.

I shouldn't worry about being too loud on the motorway because that's not down to the map as such. If you go stage 2+ or higher you will need a TBE with either cat delete pipe or a performance cat. It's the additional hardware that can make your car loud and not the program.

Thanks! I've heard that a revo remap is pretty rough. I've seen the apt remap on awesome gti website and it advertises above 320bhp which doesn't seem right. I went on aprs site and it doesn't show they hve one for the r however they have one for the Audi s3 which considering it's the same engine it seems strange.

R-tech, Revo, APR or GIAC

I ran Revo code on this engine in my ED35 in Stage 1 and Stage 2 tune and had no issues and was nice and smooth and linear

R-tech have there niche on these engines in terms of mapping as the big fish have moved onto the later engines so if you are chasing numbers they are a good option but never my main consideration

I have mine done by a Guy called Chris at CCTuning he specialiases in VAG cars Live mapping and transformed my car hes in Burton upon Trent though. Best part is its only £250 for a map then any changes after its just rolling road time.

Im going back in two weeks for the map to be altered as i have now got an Exhaust and Direct Air Feed.

I've not heard of any Rocco on here with a DNA map but tons with Revo and APR. Even though I'm looking into stand alone ecus I would go for tried and tested if I wasn't going large turbo. I will stand corrected if anyone knows different but none of the record holding Roccos Iv'e seen on YouTube run DNA maps.

I'll prob go for apr then like the look of the iPad app they do for map changes etc. DNA was best for R56 mini and Mynestune for R53. Got so much to learn.
What's the plans for yours? Stage 3?

No one knows everything mate and that's why we share info on here. :)

I'm not sure on my plans yet because I'm looking into race heads and intake manifolds to go with a bigger turbo. I don't think I can get the software to suit from the major players which leaves me with custom remap. If I go custom I may as well get a different ECU which has more programming options like the Syvecs S8. Still doing research no not 100% sure yet.
