Hub removal

Post by Buttsy »

Hi

As I very stupidly destroyed one of the threads in my off side front hub and need to get a new one, does anyone know the size of the hex key I need to remove it please? It's for the tricky ones behind the hub that look like they're going to be a nightmare to release. This is the first forum I've ever joined so please be gentle with me. plus I'm a biker so cars are all a mystery to me. :)

Many thanks

Whilst I don't know, I have also just done this on mine after a track day...
Do the studs still bite? Or do they just spin?

Its still pretty stiff but won't tighten all the way, it just keeps turning? As I said I know very little about cars.

I should also ask if there's anything I need to be aware of once I do get the hub removed. Is it a simple case of out with the old, in with the new, or am I heading for troublesome times?

I haven't worked out how to upload a picture yet so posting links are a seemingly impossible task at the mo. As per the YouTube link I watched, I used a bit of force and managed to get a nut in there which tightened and torqued up nicely. I'm assuming the old nut shredded and left debris in the hub ,which the new nut pushed out. I think I definitely got lucky with mine so am not suggesting this will work for anyone else. Hope you manage to sort it though.
