Anyone come across a rattle from front of engine

Guy any help on this please?

I have the 1.4 tsi 58 plate rocco and today i have noticed a rattle or rasp sound coming from the engine. I had the car parked up with the door open giving it a little rev and when i let off the revs i herd the noise. I don't notice it on a drive just when parked and if i give it a rev and let off the pedal slow the sound is very faint. It sounds to be just under the metal plate on the front of the engine that i think is the exhaust manifold. Oil is 3/4 full so just needs a little top up but no garage open and can't see that affecting this.

Please if anyone can shed some light on this would be much appreciated

Hey i had a similar problem, when i was at low revs it would do it too.

ended up being the bonnet stay, so i just wrapped the whole thing in black tape job done!!!!!

it does it with the bonnet up also so its not that.

It sounds to be on the engine i can hear it coming from the front of the engine.

It could just be a heat shield rattling, especially if you say it's coming from the exhaust manifold area.

I had this problem on my 2.0TSI, turbo wastegate actuator. Took it to VW, insisted thats what it was, they replaced the part for free as it was the cause of a recall on some cars - rattle gone.
