New car DSG problem

Post by Sam88101 »

Hi guys

Picked up a 2L Gt DSG today and when the car warms up after 10-15 mins of driving the gearbox becomes clunking.
So slowing down changing into first it makes a real clunk almost like its stalling then when pulling away it's a jerky...
Can anyone narrow down my problem?
Does it need a gearbox service? New oil maybe? Is this a mechatronic fault?
Any help would be great

Thanks guys

I've also noticed that. No idea what it is though I'm afraid but you're not alone!

Had this in my golf GTi going from 2 to 3rd and it used to drive me nuts. As I understand it, its the early signs of the mechatronic problem. I tried resetting the box and made sure the DSG service was up to date; but in the end I had to simply live with it.

Had several VW engineers look at it and they all said it was mechatronic related but that not a significant enough issue to warrant paying the crazy money to resolve. Its such a shame this box has so many issues - as when its good its absolutely amazing!

Hi guys thanks for the help, did you guys have the problem straight from start up or just when the car/gearbox was warm?
It only seems to my car happen after everything's warmed up which leads me to think it's an oil issue? Fingers crossed that's all it is!
It's going in tomorrow to have a gearbox serviced and gearbox settings reset and set up again
Hopefully this will cure it!
I'll keep you all updated

Thanks

In my experience, it's the orher way round, jerky when cold but smooth as silj when up to temperature.

You're doing the right thing by getting the oil and filter changed along with the settings reset.

That's what I would have thought... But as it gets warmer it's getting worse which is just weird!
Finger crossed it will be sorted tomorrow and it's not going to cost a fortune

Mine does the same thing but only happens after I absolutely rip it.... But people at Audi & the Peugeot Dealer I worked at both said its nothing to worry about the gearbox tries to learn your style of driving & when it does there jerking when pulling off its expecting you to pull off fast as I have been driving fast.... It annoys me also but when I cruise I don't get it at all

Same issue on mine, apart from mine is the same hot or cold. It feels like it slams into first from second. Only had it a month and got it from vw. It's an 11 plate with 37k on the clock. They are replacing the mechatronics under warranty. I bet many people drive around without even worrying about this issue until it gets really bad.
