Re: Project 500R
I have a friend here Stu who runs a Revo stage 2+ Golf R sat on KW DDC Coilovers. When the cars are rolling in let's say 3rd gear then the Scirocco will pull a little on the golf due to the weight difference. Do the same from a standing start and the outcome is staggeringly different; the golf has 100% usable torque and just leaps away while the poor Scirocco is scrabbling for traction with the warning light flashing away on the dash.
The diff will help for sure but as Star Treks Scott would say "ye canny change the laws of physics".
I'm not trying to put a downer on what will be an amazing car and congratulations by the way if you took delivery today, I'd just hate to see you spunk a lot of cash into something that seems to backwards after stage 2+
Your right, the Scirocco is a lovely looking car, much nicer than the Golf but I'm going to disagree on it being the best looking car sub £100K, my RS5 is a bit of looker and some stiff competition for the Scirocco in the beauty pageant.

I got to be honest. It's definitely not the best looking car sub £100k.
This is one of my favourite atm

I like the Roc more than an F type or an RS5 personally. Both are great cars but not a lot can be done to either on the modding side. The big pull for me is having something that can be modded and isn't the run of the mill car that anyone can just buy. I could just go buy a £60k second hand 911 turbo s.

and each to their own. Personally I would rather have an RS5 or the f type or the Porsche lol... and regarding the modding I'd be happy with any of those as standerd But that's just me.
What you are doing I think is great and something I can't wait to see. But I still can't see the sense in buying a brand new car and doing all that stuff to it. When you could just buy a much more powerful car to start with.
Don't get me wrong I love the scirocco.
But if I could have a f type or RS5 etc I would hands down.

Re: Project 500R
I was going to buy an RS5 but got put off after APR dropped their supercharger project and another manufacturer had issues with theirs. Pretty well ltd to exhaust, air filter etc. the other thing I didn't like we're the seats which often looked saggy on the user models which had been a known issue. The Recaros were great but cost £6500 extra. Decent spec on a new one with 4.6 sec 0-60 was £75k.
I also saw a 4wd tsfi Cupra conversion woop an M3 and an RS5 for performance and on a track.
I get it tomorrow so over the weekend I will post some pictures.

Re: Project 500R
in fairness the comparisons have been done to death on another thread on here
end of the day some people like a project and its the project that in some times more interesting than the outcome
for once this is someone doing this the right way round in terms of chassis stuff first and then adding the power, at least this way you can stop when you are felling its compromised

Re: Project 500R
Well at the moment my 10am collection has gone right out of the window.
I set my insurance up so I could just ring on the day with the new reg and they would swap at no cost and the full quote was logged and agreed. That didn't happen and in fact I have had to go right back to requote, currently 5 1/2 hours of being on the phone and waiting for call backs. This is driving me mental on such a nice day, especially as I only have 2 hours before I can't even collect it at all this weekend.

Lovely, congratulations.
The wheels look great and will look even better once you've had it lowered.

Nice one mate, another Rising Blue R *High 5*... Them wheels look 100% better all black, you do however need to get them mirrors gloss black
Turn it down for what?
