Hello everyone,
Just joined the site as I have a few worrys, might be nothing but worth mentioning I think.
But first a bit of history on my scirocco, had quite a few problems.
It's a 2011 1.4 TSI 122, I've recently had the turbo and gearbox changed at a main dealer.
The turbo was failing (I think it was the waste gate vavle sticking) and the gearbox sprung a seal and was driven around dry for months (they somehow missed the massive oil stain on the heat proofing when it was serviced) and had heat damage, I was a few weeks out of warranty but only had to spend 300 quid as VW good willed it, generous them.
But since then I noticed a small wobble on the speedo needle but thought it was probably me.
As time has gone on it's been getting worse and I think I feel the power dip with the wobble sometimes.
Is that something that could happen?
Timing chain problem?
Thanks people

Re: Speedo Needle Wobble Help
It could be damage to the cable, which could be a consequence of the gearbox overheating or damage to the speedo cable when it was refitted. Take it back to the dealer!
Re: Speedo Needle Wobble Help
The Speedo needle on my Scirocco has a slight wobble at motorway speeds, it's always done it. Nothing to worry about I'd say!

There is no speedo cable..... it's all done electronically from the wheel speed sensors.Gaz r wrote:It could be damage to the cable, which could be a consequence of the gearbox overheating or damage to the speedo cable when it was refitted. Take it back to the dealer!

Re: Speedo Needle Wobble Help
I did wonder when I posted that, cheers for clarifying. I assumed it could of been a cable as I can remember other cars having the same problem (we are talking a long time ago) and things have obviously moved on since then.
Maybe the wheels just need a balance then ;-)

Thanks for the replies guys.
I noticed around 40-50 mph but that is the average speed to and from work.
Turns out it goes for service soon I'll mention it.
