CallidaC static deep black
Greetings from Finland, near the arctic circle and polarbears.....just kidding..about the polarbears.
I bought my ´09 Rocco in march this year and I´ve already done some mods and improvements along the way and lot to be done afterwards.
It had pretty good extras on it: full leather, panorama sunroof, DDC-suspension, RNS510, Flappy paddle DSG gearbox, cooled glovebox etc.
It looked like this when I bought it, full of "holograms" and scratches made by car dealers shitty "detailer":
So first thing to do was full detailing. It took 3 full days to complete from me and two detailer friends of mine.
I decided to put Gyeon Q2 MOHS hard coating on the paint to ease maintaining the mint condition of the paint. I debadged the car to ease the polishing process.
This is how it looked after detailing:
With 17" winter wheels
Time flies and I have to rush to work, but I will continue this project topic after work.

Re: CallidaC´s Black Pearl
Next step was painting the little rusty brake calipers red and applying R-stickers to them. I also temporary put 18" Interlagos wheels on while I was waiting my real summer wheels and Standard suspension R1 coilover set to come from UK.

Re: CallidaC´s Black Pearl
Then we get to the good part!
It´s time for coilover installation and new summerwheels!
Also installed gloss black VW-emblems.
The new wheels:
I also treated the wheels with Gyeon Q2 Mohs coating that was left from coating the car.
The wheels didn´t have the right specs for Rocco so I had to use spacers to make them fit nice. Specs are: 8"x18" et45 in the front and 9"x18" et38 in the back.
Now there is 20mm spacers in front and 13mm spacers on rear wheels. I´ll think that I might need 30mm in the front and put those 20mm in the back to get nice stance and poke.
Here´s what it looked like just after the coilover installation with 20mm&13mm spacers:
Gotta love the shine of Gyeon Q2 MOHS.

Re: CallidaC´s Black Pearl
Today I gave some foamy love to my precious.
Bilt-hamber Autofoam.
That beading
Also washed my moms grocery getter
Had to take one black&white pic of the two coupes. They go hand in hand like Salt&Pepper
My DSG-paddle extensions came from ebay. They looked really different in the ebay picture, but when I got them in my hands they looked and felt cheap plastic and the carbon fiber look was just a sticker in the middle of the paddle. I am really dissapointed to these, but still installed them. I might buy full alu paddles soon.
I am really interested to retrofit full facelift interior to my car(steering wheel, Climate-panel, colour MFD etc. It might happen in little pieces like changing the steering wheel first...

I bought a set of Aluminium paddles for about £25 from the MK5GTI forum, they really do look good.

Looking good, I see a few of your mates have yellow fogs, have you considered them?
I want to see how they look before I decide haha

Re: CallidaC static deep black
Today I did some cleaning and detailing to the engine bay.
I used Bilt-Hamber Surfex-hd & autofoam through foam-lance and some detailing brushes to clean it. For protection I used Carpro Reload.
This is how it looked like before
I covered the alternator with plastic bag to avoid getting water in it.
After cleaning and Carpro Reload
The sun was finally shining here in cold and dark Finland so I had to take some pictures outside by a lake.

Re: CallidaC static deep black
I´m not a huge fan of yellow fogs on black car. In the red mk5gti yellow fogs look nice though. I ordered led bulbs for the foglights, sidelights and interior. I also ordered amber coloured leds to sidelights, because I wanted to see how it looks with a little "US-style parkinglight" twist.AxG wrote:Looking good, I see a few of your mates have yellow fogs, have you considered them?

At the end of this month I have to take my car to a Finnish "MOT" before installing all the leds because they are not legal here in Finland. I also have to raise the car a bit to pass the inspection. After that I will lower the car even more compared to current height.

I´m not sure about the sidelights, but of course the interior leds are legal. The amber coloured ones are illegal as hell. I wrote the last post with my phone so I didn´t bother to write that.Jimijokela wrote:I dont know about foglight leds, but interior and sidelights can be led legally.

Thanks! Yes, they are 18x8 in the front and 18x9 in the back. With the spacers they are now ET15 in the front and ET18 in the back.UKtom wrote:Car looks great! Love the wheels - are they 18's?

Detailing is my hobby and I'm trying to do it as good as possible.
Here's a pic from today's detailing.

Re: CallidaC static deep black
Took some photographs with my friend. Car had a little bit of dust on it, but still nice.
My friend tried "light painting" for the first time.
In the first picture the white spots are lights and stars, not chipping on paintwork

Hi mate,
Car is looking really good, have you had any luck with the colour mfd? I'm wanting to do this to mine but haven't a clue where to begin? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I haven't even started to think about the mfd retrofit. I will buy the R-steeringwheel first and then the instrument cluster with colour mfd. That happens maybe in early autumn or something like that.
