I'm 46 years young
I think it helped this year that my speeding points have gone.
One thing they did make me go through was all the cars I have owned in high insurance groups to prove I have had something as powerful. Other than my Tdi the R is the least powerful I have had for a while but totally different price bracket to my previous so better value for money.

I went through Prestige for the 280hp R worth £37k with the spec and told them to take into account alloys & future exhaust, air intake, intercooler and remap to 330-370hp. I was really shocked when they said it was only £492 with Prestige.
that's really good then isn't it.

Wigit I thought you won't be drawn I to the Golf v Roc debate?
40 k gets an 18 month old Nissan GTR with 10k on the clock. Just as ugly as a Golf, way better drivers car and far more exclusive.
I have a friend with a GTR and his gf said my RLine looked way better.
jumping on the Golf vs Roc debate here If i ever bough a golf after owning my roc i just think i'd feel dissapointed. The scirocco is a great car and the scirocco R is even but just help feel the golf is just a golf no matter if it has 4wd or not

You are spot on mate. It's not a dedicated sports car like the Scirocco but simply a car designed to be sold to the masses as a family car that has a couple of better equipped models. If you stick the best suspension and running gear in the world into a London taxi it is still an ugly London taxi.

Sorry Wigit, it is a Rocco forum so it is going to be full of Rocco enthusiasts.
I was at the dealers today and the salesman agreed that it's a shame there wasn't a better grill/front on the Golf. Also from the rear it looks pretty much like any other and very similar to the Polo.
I had a rocco for 3.5 years, in fairness loved what i did to probably more than the car as whilst it only had 290bhp it was reasonably well sorted in the handling department and not wishing to offend people that was slightly more than a set of after market springs, i always went down a performance route, since 2008 i've known plenty of people mod these chassis and I like some have made mistakes along the way and having driven these cars for since 2008 and in some cases hard base my feedback on honest real world experiences, in deed some others on here who know what they are talking about have given similar advice
There are some differing handling traits between the scirocco and mk5/6 due to the Rocco being a lot lighter at the rear (after market rear springs on rocco are designed for far less weight), in terms of normal driving this is hardly apparant you take a corner at 110mph that is a different story, hence why I invested in a set of ARBs on min
My car never had XDS on it and I liked that it didn't, do not put your faith in XDS, on modded cars sometimes it gets caught out and will act exactly how you don't want it and will understeer more, I remember being warned about this on Revo's 380bhp by most of their staff before they put a proper LSD in and nearly coming a cropper
I remain firm that anything above 300bhp in fwd car is flawed and the car is compromised unless a shed load of money on making it handle as then the car comes fun for the right reasons, all be it when flawed its quite fun too and in reality you do get to have fun at lower speeds
My comparison was what is the better out and out drivers car from VW at the moment based on driving them and in reality it would make most of the motoring press wrong
Never been a rose tinted owner and bits i have not liked on the 7R have been tweaked but i am a fan of the descreet underrated look these days and the roc still does look great

In fairNess to Wigit it is a public forum so he can say what he wantS . He owned a Roc and had an awful lot of work done to it And has been a regular member on here for a long time. So knowing he had one and has switched to a golf what does it matter if he says the golf is better. In my eyes its no different to people on here talking about what brand of lowering springs are better. everyone will have different views on the subject. I personally really like the mk7 r. He is just comparing the golf r to a scirocco. Big deal.

I get the fact he owned a Roc and can have his own opinion but I do agree that we now all know that he prefers the Golf and ha taken every opportunity to say this.
Previous I was on the VXR forum, but would not go back and say in my opinion a VXR has cheap interior compared to a Roc because some people are offended easier than others. Personally I am thick skinned and wouldn't care if someone thought mine looked crap compared to other Rocs. However if this became a more public forum and had lot of people constantly trying to knock the Roccos I would probably use another forum.
I love the fact there are loads of enthusiastic owners who think their Rocco is the absolute dog and stuff what anyone else thinks,
