How do I remove floor mat anchors/studs?
Does anyone know how to remove the round stud anchors that hold the floor mats in place?
They don't seem to unscrew, and I can't lever them out either.
Reason for removing is that some idiot installed one of the anchors in the wrong place, so it creases my mat.

Where did you get them from? There should be a part number on a tag on the underside of the mat if they are oem

Just checked the mats, and they're definitely VW (they have logo, part numbers etc).
The stud feels like it's connected to a disk of plastic under the carpet. If that's the case, then how did the disk get under there?! Are these studs fitted at the factory?

The studs shouldn't have moved as the carpet is cut around them, and yes they will have been fitted at factory

They are removable. Just takes a bit of fiddling. Had to replace my passenger footwell ones when my mates burst the old ones getting out the car.

Hmmm.. ok. Apparently they managed to put one of them in the wrong place. What's the procedure for getting under the carpet? Remove the sill trim and just peel it back?

Just a flat headed screwdriver underneath and lever it off. Worked for me. Then put the new ones in hot water to soften them a bit before putting them in position and using a ratchet socket and extension bar to push in evenly into place

This is the problem I’m having at the moment. I feel like using a flat head screwdriver would ruin the carpet??

Found this video on YouTube for removing the mat anchors/studs, but not sure if it’s the same on the Scirocco. I’m a bit uneasy pulling it apart but there’s not a lot else I can do.

Followed the above method to replace the mat studs. It’s a bit fiddly getting underneath there, but managed it. Note, when clipping it on, use a rubber hammer and a little bit of Vaseline ![😎](//twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/svg/1f60e.svg)
