Hi,
New to the forum having bought a scirocco tdi dsg at the weekend. I had read up on a lot of things beforehand, but was disappointed to learn my car doesn't have the built in Bluetooth and sat nav.
I've been looking at different head units to replace my RCD510. Is this a good idea, or should I be looking to upgrade my RCD510 to Bluetooth instead? Can I have the sat nav added to this aswell?

Bluetooth can be added later. There are lots of threads here about how to fit it.
Satnav you can't retrofit to the RCD 510. You would need to get a RNS 310 or RNS 510. But remember these still need the optional Bluetooth module. Correct me if I'm wrong guys!
I'm planning to retrofit Bluetooth to my RCD-510 at some point!

I fitted my bluetooth module before I upgraded the headunit. It depends what your hierarchy of needs is

Is the switch up to a RNS510 worth it from the RCD? If I'm going to get Bluetooth anyway, I'm thinking the switch up to the RNS would be worth it for the sat nav aswell. Also thinking of cruise control, so all this would be worth getting done at the same time to cut costs on labour.

You can fit in the RNS510 yourself? there is a youtube tutorial of it and it doesn't look hard at all, I was thinking of doing it myselfKyle wrote:Is the switch up to a RNS510 worth it from the RCD? I LOVE the fact I went up to an RNS510, it's a brilliant unit. Should be plug and play, but you need VCDS to activate the navigation menus on your MFD
