how old is your car? my 2009 59 only does what yours does, yet my mums 2013 scirocco lets you control the music via bluetooth, rather than just a direct stream from the device itself

I had the same issue with my RNS315 until I changed my phone, now it works perfectly. I'd suggest trying a different phone and see what happens.

My car is a 2011, I recently got iphone 6 plus....so changing the phone won't really be an option for the the moment.

Possible because it is an older RCD510 unit, a firmware upgrade could sort (IF COMPATIBLE) - dont know much about RCD510 firmware

OR

It could be the bluetooth module you have does not support display of track name and titles. Also, put the bluetooth module number here if you can find out.

yeah I've got a 6 myself but have used a 5 and 5c and never had it work, yet my mum has a 4s and it does it in hers so its gotta be the unit itself or the BT module

I have talked to VW tech support, and they will check if there's a possibility to upgrade the firmware. I will get more answers later today or tomorrow.

It is not possible to upgrade the firmware on the RCD510 but can upgrade the firmware on the MDI if not already done.

Hi Guys,
I have RCD310, while using MDI - USB I see name or artist and can use multi. steering wheel to change the songs, but more often I use Bluetooth to listen to music from my phone (HTC One M8) when using Bluetooth I don't see artist name nor I can switch songs with steering wheel, does any of you have this different?

I have 11/2010 2.0 TDI 125kw

I have a 3c8 035 195 A RCD510DAB head unit made by blaupunkt and a 7P6 035 730 J bluetooth module

I've tried a 7P6 035 730 M bluetooth module and it made no difference.

Now looking at changing the head unit and seen a 3c8 035 195 H made by bosch (still a UK DAB unit i gather but later part number.

Would be very interested how the OP solved this though.

I think he used a bluetooth plug in unit... Some kind of appliance that plugs into the MDI IIRC. I think the answer may have been moved into another thread - cant remember where I saw it.

As far as I remember - the RCD510s that didnt display bluetooth info tended to be old units - my RCD was VERY old (didnt even have a letter after the part number), but I know the ones immediately after it displayed bluetooth info. I seem to remember some people bought a totally separate bluetooth unit for that - I'd have to dig to find out the part number.

Why dont use just replace the head unit with an RNS if you are going for a replacement?!

The RCD you are after seems like a later model anyway, and is likely to work with the 7p6 units, however, do NOT quote me on that - it's been a while since I was hot on this topic

I've just bought a newer Bosch head unit 3c8 035 195 G and I'm hoping that when it arrives it will fix thew issue

Don't really want a RNS510 as A. I use tomtom on my iPhone B. the nav is no where near as good as tom-tom C. they are much more expensive especially if i want the latest ones that also give DAB.

Others on the Mk5GTi (admission... I've not actually got a rocco.. sorry) have RCD510 that do give track info over bluetooth so i know somehow it can work.

SOLVED..

the new G version of the head unit solved the issue i was having.

I now get full track info displayed.
