VW Badges front & rear

Post by Geoff Hibbert »

I am thinking of getting some new front and rear badges and colour coding them to my Pearl Black Roc.

I presume you buy the standard chrome coloured variety and sand, prime then paint and laquer or do they come "non-chromed" from some places??

Any info and an idea of the badge cost would be cool and the gang.

I saw Candy Monster's white badges which look lovely.

Thanks

Geoff, I'll see if i can dig out the invoice. I think the badges were about £17 each. They then need to be sanded down with wet and dry paper to take the shine off and allow the primer to stick. I used plastic primer, paint then lacquer to do mine. I have part number somewhere too.

Somthing like this?

Are you thinking colour coded to the Pearl Black paint or Gloss Black to match the grille?

I am sure one of the Photoshop experts can do a better mockup.

I like the black on red, but I'm a little undecided on black on black.

Well the Deep Black pearl would be nice.

Would I have to buy a litre of paint do you think?? I guess it's not the sort of colur you can just pick up at Halfords??

Candy Mo, you must know?? Thanks for any info.

Not sure but Halfords can usually mix up a tin from the paint code on your car. They can't do rising blue however and no other body shop I tried could either. The colour is too new :(

Doing the painted badge mod at mo. What would you use to re-stick the badge back on? (I'm re-using existing badges)

500ml paint will be enough. I think deep black pearl may be too new a colour for halfords to stock but worth looking. Last time i had paint mixed at halfords it was a very poor match (grey car). There's a few places on the net where you can order mixed paint. My candy white was off the shelf (available halfords and most good car accessory stores).

You'll need grey plastic primer (for black paint), a can of clear laquer, some trim repair tape and an assorted pack of wet and dry paper. Good luck.

Re: VW Badges front & rear outline

Well i have seen many badges but none of which seem to get my attention, so i had to take matters into my own hands. I did this badge on paint (yup really profesional lol) but this is what i would like to have as a badge on my car (once i get it offcourse):

Image

Now the only reason why i would like it to be black and red is for it to match this:

Image

Offcourse the badge will be gloss black and the red will be the same color as the caractere outline of the grill. Well now to my main point, is any of this possible. From the grill with the gti red outline and also having the rest of the grill painted in gloss black (just like the caractere)? and if it is possible how much would it take out of my poket $$$$?
cheers

Done bonnet badge in black gloss (on my silver roc) and looks good. Has anyone painted the rear badges black as well?

Ok, the week turned to a month, but at least I have pictures :p
vw4.jpg
I got the emblem at http://www.tmtuning.com/HOME/catalog/fr ... ult_kat=55#
Not especially impressed as it is an oem emblem painted matte black without a laquer top layer.
But hey its black, and it arrived in my mailbox ready to stick on.

More pictures here http://hafdis.dk/vw

I'll try to get a better picture of the whole car one of these days.

i've had a set painted satin black (halfrauds) by a friend of mine and look great and better than the matt imho, seams a shame to wrap them, i'llpost some piccies against the car

don't think tm tuning do the rear badges yet and was expecting a bit more given the costs :fall:
