Headlamp Washers

Post by robinalex »

The weather has started dropping below freezing here and this morning I noticed that I have lost one of the headlamp washer cover caps, probably due to freezing. Is there a simple way of just turning the headlamp washers off without Vagcom? Is there a fuse I could pull that only operates the headlamp washers? I find them really annoying and get sticky screenwash all over my wings and bonnet not to mention the amount of screenwash I get through. I clean the car regularly so don't really need them although will have to replace the missing cover as it looks very ugly without it.

Also, does any one have a link or part number for a replacement (black) cover cap for the near side?

Don't know about the technical function, but I can share a screen if you want how to disable them in VAG. That's how I did it.

If you turn your lights off before you pull the washer stalk, the headlight washers don't spray-might be a temporary fix for you!?

Unfortunately, that only works if you have Xenons. If you have halogens then you can't switch your lights off as they act as DRLs. You could switch to sidelights though and that would stop the headlight washers operating.

I pulled the fuse within weeks of buying the car! Can't remember which one but found it in the manual.
