Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Being so busy, I hadn't washed it in MONTHS! and due to the horror stories on here of car wash attendants using dirty sponges/mitts to clean cars + create swirl marks, I decided I will be the only one to wash it.
Temp was about 4 - 6 degs, which was fine with me as I dont mind the cold. Used some Citrus power bug shifter as a starter and it worked a treat; then I proceeded to get my wash mitt out to begin. Less than a minute into the wash, the mitt starts to fall apart . I have only used the damn thing 5 times! I would have thought it'd last longer! Anyway, I continue washing, as the car was so dirty, using an ordinary sponge would have been bad... I almost regretted that decision, the mitt didnt stop shedding its wool, all over my drive and all over the car! I just about washed the whole car with it and was left with just a clump of wool.
I gave it a quick rinse and made sure all the stubborn dirt was gone, and did a second wash with a regular sponge.
Results were decent for a quick wash (2 hours spent), not so impressed with the wool lodge all over the drive!!
I also gave the tailpipe a quick going over with some metal polish - 10 minutes and I managed to get a decent gleam with some 00 Grade wirewool. Extremely pleased!! I will be repeating the wash again in a month. Apologies for the lack of pictures.
Any one else had a mitt that fell apart?

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
I'm using a Microfiber Madness Incredimitt and so far, only had 6 washes with a stint in the washing machine at 40 each time and it seems to come out good as new. Worth the premium so far.
Wish I could say the same for the Chemical Guys Wooly Mammoth towel, that thing has left an impressive trail of fluff over my car since day 1 I've given up on it. The Amazon basics cheapos do a better job.

didn't actually expect many replies!!
Thanks guys! Glad to know it's not just me @ whitedevil - I was shocked at the rate at which the wool just falls straight off, my drive is covered in it.
Seems incredimitt is the way forward!
@shaun1982 - I had the maquiars, and it's the one that fell apart.. Maybe get the incredimitt ones - will get it ordered

lol trust me your not the only one. Heard a few people have this problem with mitts. As said im currently using a car pro mitt and love it. But if you got alot of grime and like mud then it tends to get stuck inside the mitt and becomes a pain to get out. The incredimitt gets really good feedback so thats what i will be getting next.

Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT. Can't really comment on the Goodyears yet as it was stop start traffic all the way home from the dealers yesterday and today I've only plodded to the shops and back. Only thing I have noticed is that they grip very well when setting of in the wet, no wheelspin!3t3p wrote:eagles are nice I got them on.Andy Rocc wrote:Service, MOT and 4 new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres.

Swapped my fully manual heating controls for the semi automatic climate control from a my2011 golf. It's not the full 2 zone climate system, but it's a noticeable improvement.

Another plus for the incredimitt/incredisponge - been using the IS for 5 months now and only noticed it missing one strand so far - caught in the windscreen wiper catch
Would buy another without hesitation

I've changed my front and rear badges. A bit frosty weather! You can see the frozen bonnet in the picture. A bit of extra use for the hairdryer.
The badges came off easy, a bit too easy! The front one would have come off with the next jet wash at the car wash!
