Going to look at a Scirocco on Saturday
Heading out early Saturday morning to look at a 2.0 GT (210) Scirocco, it's got leather and nav, under 30k miles and is an 11 plate. Anyone know what I should be looking to pay for it roughly?
Any tips on getting a good deal from a VW dealership?
Also, just had a call from them stating that someone else is going to view it tomorrow so if I want to stop them buying I should put a holding deposit down. I did as they assured me it was fully refundable but does this sound like a dealer trick to anyone?

iv never heard of a deposit that is refundable, surely the idea of a deposit is that they keep it to ensure you dont waste their time

That's the oldest trick in the book that somebody else is going to view the car, it's just to encourage you to go down and look at the car. The "somebody else" never shows up. It may be true of course, but I would not fall for that one.

Well as I was going to look at it anyway and they said it was fully refundable So I figured why not, I'd rather do that than miss out on it if it happened to be true.

Here's a link to it on the dealers site where you can see a few pictures and check out the specs.

I was thinking of replacing the cup holders with the ones from the Golf, a lot of people saying it's a pain so not sure if I really want to give it a go but the Golf cup holders look so much better.

Took me about 90 mins to replace the cupholder using the how to guide I found. Dismantling takes the time but quickly reassembled. Well worth the time IMHO.

Re: Going to look at a Scirocco on Saturday
Yeah, it's got leather, nav, electric drivers seat with lumbar and parking sensors, it's low mileage and only 3 years old with the 2.0 petrol engine so I don't think I could have got one much cheaper, especially from a main dealer where I get a years warranty.
I went to see one a few weeks ago at a local garage that was pretty much the same age and spec except it also had DSG but it was in rotten condition and had done 38k miles and they wanted 16k too.

Re: Going to look at a Scirocco on Saturday
I Had A TSI DSG 2.0 , White, Leather heated with elec lumbar, rear sensors, pan roof, Bluetooth 10 plate had 19k mileage and i picked it up for 15.500£ from main dealer. this was a year and 5 months ago !!.. but yeah i guess if youve been looking and looking and its the cheapest, then it canny be overpriced. good luck with the car man

I did notice a premium on the price of blue over white, there just seemed to be a lot more white ones about so maybe that's why.

Re: Going to look at a Scirocco on Saturday
I've just noticed that the car doesn't list bluetooth as one of the features, rather naively I thought it was standard when you have the rns510.
It does list "hands free phone preparation" as one of the optional extras, does anyone know what this is and should I get the dealer to add bluetooth before I pick it up? How much would it cost? Can it be added easily by me to save a few quid?

Re: Going to look at a Scirocco on Saturday
Im pretty much 90% sure you have Bluetooth there mate. I forgot to check if mine had it when I bought it, lesser sterior to yours and it did
Re the price.
I got a decent specced GT DSG 2.0TDI with 37k on the clock for £16k... so that seems fair enough to me.

Re: Going to look at a Scirocco on Saturday
Just heard back from the dealer, as I feared there's no bluetooth on it
and the dealer says they can only install the separate screen one out of the polo which I declined.
Does anyone know if it's possible, or hopefully easier to install with the hands free prep already on the vehicle?

Re: Going to look at a Scirocco on Saturday
I can't seem to find any how to's or anything regarding adding Bluetooth, I've left a message for a local vw specialist to see how much it'll cost for him to do it so we'll see
