Rookie detailing
Not really a petrol although fast turning into one with my new facelift scirocco. I've had the car for almost 2 weeks so probably need to give it a clean. My VW dealer obviously give it the works in terms of polish, wax etc! As its my first wash I wanted advice on how or how little I should do, plus but kit I need. Fyi I don't own a sponge!! Any and all advise welcome

Re: Rookie detailing
First thing is don't use a sponge. Use a mitt.
Depending on what VW have done as I don't really trust when dealers attempt to detail their cars as seen bad things but I'm sure yours is fine. There's loads things you can do. Endless really.
I'd go for
Pre wash or snow foam using snow lance or pressure sprayer
Pressure wash it off
Wash mitt with ph balance shampoo
Use two buckets with a grit guards (one with soapy water and one with clean plain water for rinsing the mitt into)
Pressure wash it off again
Check the level on protection VW have applied by the way the water runs off.
Dry with a drying towel. Don't use a leather chamois.
If protection is good then top up with quick detailed spray or a light sealant spray and wipe away with microfibres cloth. Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer or Gtechniq C2v3
Glass cleaner for windows
I'm sure people will add on to this but for a first wash seems to be the basics covered
Hope this helps

Re: Rookie detailing
Think VW tend to use Autoglym products on their lifeshine kits, i personally dont rate Autoglym. There are much better brands and products out there to try out.
I would personally be stripping any autoglym products they have applied and giving it a full detail as Rav has mentioned, maybe giving it a clay, althoigh probabky not totally necessary as it is a new car and getting some good wax on there ready for the winter. Also some decent wheel sealant! Then washing it through the winter should be a doddle.

Lads the Mitt worked like a treat. Long are the days of my sponge and Peugot 106
