Hi Guys,
VW told me yesterday that the front Console Bushes is Cracking and that I should budget £500 for a replacement as it will not pass the next MOT.
I am really surprised as car only has 35k miles on clock and is not used excessively or driven hard!
Another mechanic told me today that Console Bushes are a known weakness on VW and that the VW own brand don’t last. He suggested that I replace them with a performance or aftermarket version.
Can anyone with technical or mechanical knowledge please give us some advice?
Many thanks,
Jay

Do you mean the wishbone bushes?? If you do then £500 is way too expensive, the bushes only cost around £20 each and only take an hour to fit per side. I did mine recently and replaced them with uprated Audi TT bushes. Heres a link....

I recommend the upgrade as it sharpens up the steering considerably

Hi Shak,
Yes that's the one and thank you so much for your speedy response and the Web link.
I new VW wanted to rip me off as usual!
I'll make sure I upgrade to the one you have recommended!
thanks,
Jay
