I must admit these problems wouldn't seem as bad if I was just waiting for a normal boring car but the fact it's something quite exciting the wait is killing. My dealer suggested they were holding them back to create a demand which is great for them but for those of us who need to car to get about due to living and work locations it's a right pain in the ass.
I will give VW a call at lunch and see what they have to say for themselves as it's becoming a real pain. Would it be wrong to contact the group director with my concerns?

Btw I have to say it again. I am so jealous
Reading back in the thread, 1st October did seem very fast compared to all the other times quoted (assume you live in UK?). I ordered end of July and was told delivery would be end of October/start of November so maybe whoever told you that initially was wrong. What does the order tracker say?

On the plus side, just thing how much sweeter it will be when it does eventually arrive :p

The tracker on the VW website states it's still in transit. However since being in the pissed off mood I am I phoned VW UK at lunch and demanded to know where it is. The guys reply was your car is in the UK and waiting to be transported to dealer and he was expecting me to have it by next Tuesday the latest. He did say there were a few problems with Scirocco distribution hence why its so late.

I actually can't wait to drive it out of the dealership and just go for a long drive somewhere.

There's 3 stages of In Transit Ffs lol. With the winds on the irish sea and shipping canceled recently there will be backlogs for any Irish buyers.

What is the lead time for new fl Scirocco? Is there difference between diesel or petrol lead time? I'm thinking about getting rid of my current car and ordering Scirocco again.

Also what's the minimal period you have to keep finance to get dealer contribution and service plan?

Mine was just over 11 weeks for the 184 TDI, others ordered before me and are receiving them later so it varies depending on spec and production run grouping. 3 months is probably a reasonable estimate.

It's 18 months, I just did it myself and withdrew (don't settle) from the agreement paying off in full and keeping the deposit contribution. It 'cost' me £28 in interest for the first week. Not bad for a £1500 discount. I keep the service plan too, it's a separate product.

I noticed that DrivetheDeal offers £5000 off (including this £1500 deposit), that's 15-18% off depending on spec.

How is the new 184PS diesel? I only had one diesel before, Mercedes OM651 engine, 204PS but I hated the noise. However I liked the range hence the thought of getting Scirocco diesel.

The engine has a pretty nice purr when you give it some beans (though that's most probably the SoundAktor whatsit) and it's surprisingly quiet the rest of the time. I've not pushed too hard yet while it's still new but it has some serious pull, I've always driven petrol so it's a nice change. MPG isn't quite as high as I expected but hopefully that'll improve when the engine loosens up and my lead foot eases.

It sound's like it was on the same boat as mine. Call VW UK they will tell you what the plan for the car is. They said the car would be in my possession by Tuesday the 28th and I'm off to pick it up tonight so they are pretty accurate in what they say

How does that work do you get to drive this car then swap it for your new one when it arrives? What did they forget?

Yeah I have to keep hold of it until my new one arrives. They forgot the XDS, MFD colour screen and folding mirrors along with the minor de badging I asked for. The car is beautiful but I paid for them so expect them to be included

Have no idea the sales manager had no choice but to re-order it.

I can get through this winter and put the wear and tear on another car before getting my new one hehe. The xenons are bloody awesome though.
