2014 model pre facelift or new facelift model

Post by sulley-eire »

im new here looking to buy my first a new sirocco in a bit of dilemma .live in Ireland I saw a 2014 sport model not( r version ) pre face lift for sale 26 500 euro in silver only 300 km realy like look of it .but then I see the new facelift model in red for 28.500 euro ..I prefer the silver car but for the extra few euros do I go for the red as it includes technology pack(toch screen radio 6 disc cd changer )and few other little bits and think it says a sport pack, its a ex demo with 2k kilometres .with the better 150 hp engine . as people said don't like extra dials in the dash . so what to do go with heart go with silver or go with head go with the red which I realy like to by the way just like the preface lift look .what would u guys do .thoughts please up all night thinking about it .need help

I can't speak to everyone's experience but I've just ordered a new scirocco (build date is next week). Volkswagen offered £1500 deposit contribution plus I got the dealer to give a solid % discount. Add this to the decreased APR and the new model worked out more cost efficient. With most Volkswagens moving to a sharper cuboid type look the old one will stick out quite a bit. I much prefer the new version and am of the belief that VW probably know more about cars/consumers than me, but I would say that having recently ordered one!

I prefer the old shape (I drive one so I'm bias) I don't like how vw haven't done anything about the ride height on the new model and think if anything it looks slightly higher! If anything I'd prefer my car to stand out over the newer boxier shapes but that's just my opinion! I went with my heart when buying mine and went with the 2.0 tsi, if I'd of gone with my head I would have probably gone for a smaller petrol version to save money on fuel but I don't regret my decision one bit! Go with your heart I say!!

I agree with john_w and am also biased. But I just simply don't like the look of the facelift, they've ruined the flowing lines with square additions to the bumper. It's just more golf like.
It's still an eyecatcher and it's been around for 6 years already. I went with my heart too!

Agreed with the pre-facelift tbh I don't know why I'm just not a massive fan of the facelift. Don't know why think I just think the front bumper doesn't look as good :/

At the end of the day, any "facelift" is simply a ploy to wring out a few extra sales from an ageing model before a completely new one comes along in a couple of years.

All they ever hope to achieve is to make the vehicle look different enough to the old one, so the old one looks "old".

The equation that they have to wrestle with is how cheaply they can do it - i.e. how few new components can they get away with.

Essentially, the Roc seems to have gained an out-of place tailgate and some new front end plastic.

Exciting.........

When was the last time the scirocco had a facelift or has it largely stayed the same over the past 6 years?

Always buy cars with your heart. A car is suposed to put a smile on your face after a crap day at work. Then you come home with a smile and everybody is happy.
Re-sale values, a parts price considerations are for people buying Suzuki Baleno or Passats.
Collector of warning lights.

I could be wrong, but I think it has been pretty much the same until now.

And very nice it has been, too :D

As I said, a "facelift" (IMHO) is a change for changes sake, and the "old" one is so nice, any facelift type tweak has little chance of improving it.

Obviously, they could have done a complete new body on the old chassis (a la Golf Mk5/6), but that is not the object of the exercise right now. FAR too much expense.

Perhaps with hindsight, in a few years time, we will look back at the "old" version as the "classic" version, and the facelifted one as the "bodger".....

It's interesting in that I've a 2013 177 R line which is brilliant, I had a 210 gt before and that was equally brilliant for different reasons, mainly petrol bhp vs the torque of the diesel. The new scirocco petrol is 220 not 210 but the torque is the same as the old R. Now that's impressive! I don't want a golf gti because I don't like the look of it and always go around the houses when I want another car but the latest petrol R line with that torque could be worth a look .

It must be my old eyes but I can't really see the difference between the new and the old model. I bet I'll get a demonstrator when mine is nearly 3 years old as I have done in the past. Great cars

Oh, they don't wanna make it TOO different. It is a successful model, after all.

Just enough to entice a few doubters....

"Oo, sir - just feel the angle of the NEW crease on the tailgate.......Suits you, sir......"
