Hi there, hope you're all well, i'm new to the forum but i'm looking to be upgrading from my first car (VW Polo 1.2) to a VW Scirocco .
I do a lot of driving with my work (Family engineering business), so the Polo is starting to feel it, and so am i . It was a great first car but i'm looking to upgrade now (21 years old).
I went to the showrooms, and began my search, i already had a list of cars that i wanted to have a look at, VW Golf, Audi A3, BMW 1 Series, something a bit more sportier and comfier and then i saw it, the Scirocco, and i was in love, even more so when i sat inside.
Now the question is, what sort of Scirocco do i want .
I had went for a test drive in the 1.4 TSI (Standard model) and it was great, a lot quicker and a lot more fun to drive, but i'm thinking the 2.0l is the way to go as a personal preference, what are your opinions on the 2.0l TSI and the 2.0l TDI?
Lastly, i'm torn between the GT and the R-Line, the R-Line is a bit more expensive but i'm wondering if it's really worth it.
Thanks for the time.

Re: Scirocco GT - R-Line
Hi, I suppose it depends on how many miles you do a year so you can make the comparison of how much it costs to run both and how much you can afford.
The R Lines are nice and have good standard spec so If I was choosing I would go for one of those. The R lines have side skirts slightly different front and rear bumpers and I think the r line comes with leather and sat nav as standard. If you were to go for a GT its best looking for a well specced model which helps in resale. Do some searches on here as these questions are asked a few times already, especially the discussion over whether to go petrol or diesel.
Hope this helps a little but am sure the guys on here will give you some more and better info.

Thanks Neil, i've used the search function, but didn't look too far, i'll have another look when i get more time.
To be honest, i'm swaying towards the R-Line, but i'll have a more in depth look.
Thanks again.

I have a 2.0tsi gt, sat nav, heated leather, and the usual gt spec. The only reason I'd go for the R is if you want the sportier look, otherwise get the gt with a good spec (definitely xenons) get a good remap and you're good to go!

The Xenon's that good? And thanks, got a couple months to make a decision so there will be a lot of back and forth haha.john_w wrote:I have a 2.0tsi gt, sat nav, heated leather, and the usual gt spec. Re: Scirocco GT - R-Line
I agree with john_w I also have a black 2.0tsi GT which I got last friday and absolutely love it! I was very lucky to come across it but its perfect low mileage, satnav, black leather heated seats, sunroof, xenons(A big must!) the full works! And now im planning to do a few mods to it including a remap which would not only have me pushing out the same bhp as a R-line but alot more torque aswell..but hey if you prefer the R and can afford its extra costs i.e insurance/tax/parts etc. then go for it all that matters is you pick the perfect car for you!

Re: Scirocco GT - R-Line
Thanks mate, i went for a test drive in the 1.4 120hp standard Scirocco and loved it, a huge step from my 1.2 60hp Polo haha, i think a 2.0l TSI would definitely keep me going for a few years or even more.FiliMillz wrote:I agree with john_w I also have a black 2.0tsi GT which I got last friday and absolutely love it!
