SOme of you may recall it started a couple of months ago when VW Finance wouldn't let me pay for a new Polo for my daughter as they said I was fronting the deal - this may be correct in their eyes but when she lives in the same house as us I didn't quite understand the logic of not letting me do this. I ended up getting her a new Smart car for half the cost so that was one sale they lost. I also then decided to get my wife one as well instead of a Polo so that was two sales missed.
Last straw was when I had my car serviced at 30,000 and the service manager asked what would I like to do for future servicing as I had used my 3 free services - he said for £19.99 a month/24 months I could set up a service plan and that would cover me up to when my PCP ended in January - the only thing he said in addition was that if I had it serviced and sold the car before the agreement ended I would need to pay whatever the difference was in terms of servicing which was only fair and made sense - I got a single bit of paper with a schedule from VW finance showing the contract number etc and how much a month - nothing else.
Anyhow, I decided to go for a new QQ before I needed another service so contacted them today to let them know I would not be needing my service plan and to refund back the £39.98 I had already paid - VWF then said I needed to give them 28 days notice in writing and that I was not entitled to a refund and would need to make another payment - I told them I had canceled my payments and would not be paying the next installment for something I wont need where they then got all grumpy and said they would make a note and be in touch when the payment was missed - I told them they had failed to send me any T&C's relating to the plan and in my view the dealership miss-sold the policy as they should have pointed this out. Anyhow, we will see how that goes as I will take it to the FCA if they play funny buggers.
Have I enjoyed the car? Yes, mostly. The doors are heavy, the economy for an oil burner probably poor by modern standard but the styling still makes me take a 2nd look when I walk away - I loved the interior (even if a little bland) and thought the DSG was cracking (even if it's feeling a little less smooth now). The handling is great, can't fault it. The misting up in the winter very annoying and the lack of rain gutters aggravating when water pours in if its pouring and you open the door parked at an angle - but I loved it all the same.
Drive safely people - this forum is great for getting information and I have read some interesting stuff on here. All the best to you
Rob
