Could it be that my wife is right?

Post by nemerkh »

Roc 09 tdi 140
Recently grabbed a bargain of tyres. For 50£ got hold of 2 perrellis RUNFLATs with about 6 mm tread. Only thing they are 245/40 rather than 235/40 18s. Put them on the rear and they look much better so my roc now got wider tyres in the back (am a bmw boy)
My dear wife is saying that the car feels much slower and feels resistance when on higher speeds. Tried it myself but am not sure maybe it's psychological it could be slightly slower. She also says a bit worse mpg now

Is it possible to be due to tyres or is she imagining things??
Thanks

That's the reason BMW drivers remove them.

They are a stronger tyre so heavyer in construction and wear out quicker. MPG will reduce and ride will be harder compared to a non run flat tyre.

sounds like a bargain, for £50 you have made the rear look like it has hot wheels style tyres, probably made the car handle worse

there is a reason why BMWs have wider tyres on the back, fwd is not one of them
