Intrigued , i wanted to find the other 'end' to see if we could go and explore ! . With a bit of help from the satnav i managed to find a place we could get access to it.
After parking the car up - it struck me as a great scene to take a few snaps with the car :)

We managed to walk alongside the arches until an embankment where we could climb up and get to the top , Me and my nipper then walked the viaduct right to the end enjoying a great unspoilt view across the Loire Valley. It turns out that this was once a railway but the bridge crossing the river was bombed by the Luftwaffe during WW2 , and this section of viaduct over the flood plain ( about 1 mile long) is all that remains of the old railway. On google earth , you can still see the remains of the pontoons in the river bed that once carried the bridge across. Anyway - it's a great backdrop for a few arty pics of our favorite car if you can get the perspective right . This pic was taken with my mobile phone - but it's not bad considering  . I used the snapseed app to edit the photo and used the 'drama' filter in both weak (above) and strong (below) modes to achieve the effects in the pics

Please excuse the roofbars !

I am totally speechless, Lee. What an amazing scene. The car fits in perfectly. Hope it was a good trip?

Thanks Marcel , and yes we all had a brilliant time. That part of France is packed with fantastic Chateau's , beautiful countryside , lovely people and great restaurants / bars.
In real life that disused viaduct is really striking - i just wish i had a decent camera with me , and that i'd given the car a polish !. Deffo my favorite pic of the car though

Thanks feeney , they're genuine VW accessory roof bars (Part# 1K8071126) . The VW RRP is £360 :eyepop: - but i got mine (used) from a guy on ebay for a bit over £100. The bars are pretty fat , and the clamps that came with the roofbox wouldn't go around them - so i just used some 60mm exhaust clamps (£5.99 for 5) and these worked a treat ;)

Great photo Lee, what a superb spot, considering that was with your phone as well. Great driving in France, out in the countryside at least it is so much more enjoyable than over here.
