Post by Adwolves »

:) hey all..I've been on the hunt for a r line past few weeks....bloody nightmare tbh in finding a good price haha

Anyways is this a good deal?from VW R line 170 candy white 2014 dsg 5100 miles...2 owners but 1 owner was the vw group and proof will be given...£22225...I've haggled hard best price £21740

Extras are dynaudio pack..90% tinted glass...Electric folding door mirrors, 12 way electrically adjustable driver's seat

A good purchase?or will I come across cheaper?

You're looking at £25,905 (Including 1500 deposit contribution) for the new 184 DSG 2014 model with exact same spec as you mentioned through OrangeWheels, and probably cheaper if you check out Drive the Deal. I managed to get my local dealer to match the DTD quote (after a lot of effort).

So i guess it depends, do you want to spend 4 grand more to get a brand new face lifted scirocco or the old shape with 5k miles on.

Id probably fork out the extra for the new one to be honest, better engines and a few more toys... Altho you dont get DCC right??? not that it makes a massive difference imo.

The 1.5K contribution is only if you buy on PCP. So if you're financing another way, then the difference is nearly 6K more, or over 6.5K with DCC. On the other, it depends on the dealer's offer against list; if you buy on your own finance through Drivethedeal it's 24K without DCC (can't see it listed as an option?)

Yes I can see your points...I'm buying with cash no finance...I've offered 20k max but no joy!!

I don't know if to wait a bit until the new ones come out to see if used prices drop a bit?think they will?

Just read your opening post again. If the car is an ex-demo rather than just a pre-reg, then 20k cash is a fair I ffer. Think you could do a bit better for 22k.

Doh, forgot about DCC.

I was in a similar position, looking for a used, but decided to wait a little while longer and pick up the new model and save a few more pennies in the process. I also have the cash, but I'm going down the Solutions route purely for the £1500 contribution and will pay it off immediately.

Is this a good purchase?

Post by uklee »

I would say so . I paid £26500 for mine at around this time last year (new) - against a list price over over £31k . So , like the one you're buying - my Candy white GTS 177 is now just over a year old with 7k on the clock . I've got a few more extras - but id say you've got a great car at a good price .

Post some pics !
