Post by Roc Hopper »

Apologies because I know this has been asked before but I'm looking at having Bluetooth retro fitted to Walter's RCD 510 & I've been quoted £355+vat genuine VW part programmed & fitted

Is this reasonable ?
Cheers you guys

What's a Walter RCD?!?!

Well, you can easily pick up a bluetooth module for around £150 - £200... It's reasonably easy to fit (circa 2 hours at the absolute max).... I guess the decision is yours

Price is expensive with regards to doing it yourself but its about right in terms of getting a company to do the retrofit. I did my retrofit with UHV module (you can use any phone) for:

Module: 60 quid ebay auction
Harness: 35 quid ebay (WITH VOICE CONTROL)
Mic: 8 quid ebay

so cost me just over 100 quid for full voice control and UHV bluetooth module and thats it!

Hi well I bought the stuff ages ago and cant track down the seller but its basically these

Harness + mic included:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-SEAT-GENUI ... 5d4df313eb

Module: this is auction which you may be able to get cheap
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Skoda-Seat ... 1c42fb4309

Also if you want to put module under seat you will need a foam holder which can be bought here:
http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-f ... id313.html

But I personally just put some anti-slip mat around the module and put behind climate control unit.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for that :)
wow nearly £60 for the harness and mic! Seems pricy!
I'm just amazed at VW that they put in these nice big touch screens as standard and don't put in Bluetooth..
And how cheap Bluetooth is for computers £5-10 and then £200 ish from VW!
Crazy

WD is of course correct as usual :)
Walter is my Roc - named for the designer
RCD510 is the current head unit - genuine VW Bluetooth module loom & mike ordered from EBay this morning

Think this will be my last major mod as Mrs H is getting antsy about the money pit he's turning into :grumpy:

Do you just need these two parts or do you need the above wiring harness as well?

Does this include everything?

Am getting myself very confused!

thanks so am I better off picking up the full kit there with the VW loom or is the 3rd party plug and play loom you listed easier/better? Does the vw kit need wires swapping around as the other kit has the option to plug wires in differently?

Sorry for all the questions!
